If it is a spinning rod no need to do it and impractical If it is a casting rod there great advantages when fighting big fish the spiral wrap is designed for casting level wind type reels I do them for most of my customers for muskies and bass

Kevin if your using braid with a leader you can go down to a 5 .5 or a 5 runner easily if you use the fg knot but if your using most any other knot you will sure as there is water in the ocean knock the rings out eventually. have had several customers bring their production made rods for running guide repairs and most of them are 5.5- 4 's I feel that with the 6 runners you are on the top

all of these factors Reel size, Casting weight, Line stiffness, Fish fighting, Strength, play in to guide placement and they equate to distance but because you may not use the same weight every time and we know that fishing conditions change guide placement is a general thing that gives you the best for the difference in conditions you will encounter fishing different waters distance is de

competition casting is a different thing than fishing as the weights are consistent everyone uses the same weight where the lures you use differ in weight when you build a rod for fishing you seek the middle of the road point and the rod will work well with either the light side bait /lure or the heavy side.

any of those choices will work but do a test spot where it won't show if it should not work with the finish you choose but if it were me I would use the dupli color clear coat considering that is the paint you used

you didn't need the primer the paint would adhere to the blank ?did you lightly scuff the clear finish on the blank you can do it again if you choose or let it sit where it is warm for a few days and it should cure fully /harden

Have to agree with the rest of the gang they are fine unless you want to use them for a prod going through the woods or like a light saber haven't had one come back to me for quite a long time the couple that did the breaks were obviously user abuse from being stepped on or the door bit as they were loading or unloading so build away and just don't abuse them and they will last for a long l

the gps specs are suggested spacing not exact because of all the variables in different blanks. as for the guides the torzite are suppose to be more slick than the sic hence the change in sizing will it work better possible the best thing you can do is use the gps as a starting point and follow final placement with load test to be accurate in the guide placement and ultimate rod performance

most would use a single foot guide for something that small and just wrap it on the tip and finish it like all the rest of the guides in the guide train

just looked at the picture and it looks as the ferrule spigot is bent telling me that it is aluminum and more than likely it stretched and the bond was broken you can clamp the spigot end in a vice and lightly heat up the ferrule part and pull for all your worth and it should come off and then just re epoxy it and hope the spigot doesn't break off because that is an old not made any longer fe

apply light heat and see if you can get it it slip off be careful with the heat as you can destroy the blank can you see any lines comming from where the ferrule meets the blank if so the blank might be fractured all ready

is it a hollow glass rod or solid blank ?? does the loose piece have a punch mark on it ?? if it has a punch mark you can tale a tinny drill and drill that out and the piece should slip off then you could just clean it up a bit and epoxy it back in place this is just a guess as the info you gave is a little shy on details if you could post a pic or 2 in the photo section of the forum it would
