I only do it if needed I do it to burn off any fuzzes left from the thread Never herd of the heat tightening the thread But maybe it does ?? Flaming the finish depends If there are bubbles in it low heat can help to get rid of them It will thin the finish so they can escape I use a light finish and always try NOT to put bubbles in it as I mix I find two thin coats seems to level very nicely A fa

mark It will if you let it set up !! When I put CP on I put a wet coat on while turning - But - will put another coat on 10 - 15 min Or less Trying to keep it wet before it sets or drys - or cures - If let to long it will seal Like it should And another coat will not penetrate So the IDEA is to put coats on WHEN WET so it is not one coat over another HARD coat Wast of time

My point was that when turning you should not have to worry about sags I find it goes on nicer If doing only two or three guides at a time I do it on the wrapper But if a whole rod on the dryer - To each his own Plus while turning I get a soft brush to go over the guide wraps for any dust

Colored cork usually does not look REAL good until some kink of clear is applied to bring out the color Posts here have had cork said to look like it was cleared in the pictures of the seller ??? Clear the ones you have and it should look a lot better Tru - Oil is good for this It will not FEEL the same as bare But if you want better color ??

Do you think a Composite blank of the same flex and lure weight would have worked better - Yes been a little heaver - Yet maybe not have broken ???? And maybe you would have gotten that fish ?? I know that is a great blank I have read plenty on them here LIGHT WEIGHT - yet could not handle going under the boat Just a thought

most with CP and finish put a coat on too heavy You should watch and if you have a 9 rpm dryer it may sag The shows to heavy a coat Take some off Watch to make sure it is all level You should not just put it on and walk away - Ya got to baby sit Better two thin coats then one heavy that sags

Like I said -- Old Dried out making it thick and if a water based can be thinned Several thin coats is a lot better then one heavy coat -- been there done that What CP are you using Also you should try several and see which you like Usually it is user error

When you find - or think you have found a blank you want to use for a certain lure -- All blanks throw WEIGHT weather it be lure weight or fly line Fly line is the weight Past the tip Come here to see if it will or is good for the lure and or WAY you want to use it Some one here has probably tried it and should know That is what this site is all about -- ask before you spend that money

I would think a 8 or even a 9 wt If a river fast moving you will need the power for the heavy fish A 4 wt is for trout panfish Try going online and search the river and state you want to fish You should get a lot of recommendations on rods to use St Croix makes a nice blank At least they used too Have not used anything lately Hang in there You will get more posts that have fished this
