If you have an old reel just cut the feet off and some of the stem File a slot in the top of the stem Tape a colored fly line over into the V and down to the tip Thought the guides Like said after the top in on Just align buy eye - Easy

I have measured the cord Cut leaving some to tape as i start ____ But I Also mix up rod bond - With a rag I wipe a thine coat on the area Tap down to start Wrap then tighten buy hand add more as needed tighten Tape the end Next day trim as needed - now it will not move and a coating is not really needed ?

After talking for a while My main question is -- what do you think you will PAY for this rod -- Tire kickers run ?? LOL I find a lot go to a store check the prices of off the shelf then think they can get it for that price

Yep Michael here also What I do is glue the top on aliening it with the reel or a home made reel guide Then when wrapping I alien from the tip to the but Then take the rod outside Re alien The bright sun is your friend

I use a workforce 25' carpenters tape measure 1" wide so it stays straight at a certain length
On a table or floor and you can measure almost or most complete rods

Just for laughs - never use alcohol before a finish -- Sand - Wash - then use a fine scoff pad and clean with a DRY PAPER towel The alcohol may have been the fault It can leave a residue on the surface - The pad will take this of

This is a urethane clear If you are doing several blanks -- After being painted it is a very good clear The same as a car is painted put a lacquer paint on Prep - then use it to clear -- BUT - Once it is mixed it will have to be used UP -- or will set in the can - so doing several blanks is wise to have ready to clear coat

I have thinned finish FOR YEARS -- and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM - it dried at the same time as not thinned - as hard as ever ------ and never had ONE PROBLEM I do use Flex Coat UV finish high build - with lacquer thinner - MID TEMP -- And a tad of water with there flex coat CP and about three coats of it AT 15 min apart I never let completely dry but three co

Do not know what you are doing so I can not tell MUCH -- But I would say another coat and it all should come to an even color - I put one coat on After about 15 min Another I do not let any coat dry fully - Rather a wet coat when in soaks in ad another Usually enough --- wet coats on a dryer

I put the top on at the 180 glue it on Then say 7' rod place 7 - 8 guides on -- no bumper guide --AT THE 180 Then move the butt guide to 0 static test -- adjust as needed -- where the line touches the blank I THEN ADD the bumper - size of the running guides Have several guides to add or delete as needed Once you think it is good Run line tie to something and as if fishing put pressure on adjust g

I will say that with out a doubt a light UV will work better None of this warm up up to 90 - Please it will set in YES 4 - 5 hours But the thin finish will LEVEL better and will let bubbles escape easier - Yea two coats - or one heavy coat can be done The whole idea is no bubbles - and smooth flow - the warmer it is the

Not for nothing - but you can coat it with an auto clear - which can be adjusted for set time - thinned with a reducer - You need to play But it stays wetter longer - When dry is as good if not better then any finish have you ever seen a car with a yellow finish ?

I use lacquer thinner from Home Depot Put it in a small mayonnaise jar Not the best thing to sniff Roger has a good idea But i have been using several brushes for many years ???

What I see looks good - Not flashy - Now If you used regular nylon you can get two different looks - No CP and the thread will get slightly transparent and ( maybe ) show the gold thought -- With several coats of CP it will hold the color you have ???
You can try a piece of scrap do a short wrap - TWO - coat with and without CP See how you like it
Blue also will fade in the sun VERY FAST ??

I would say Lindsay nailed it A coat of clear ( most do this ) the writing Then the fixative I like it cause it seems clearer the CP Then a nice coat of clear

if careful overlapping the finish will only KEEP WATER from going under the thread Also keep the guide foot from rusting from any water ----- IT IS A GOOD THING why not just do it ?????
