Hello Daren, I have found the sweet spot on most rods to be 18-22" from the reel face... It is not as critical as the spinning system.

Thank you everyone for following up on this... The guide spacing for the stripper guide is measured from the spool lip fully extended to the tp of the main ring... It does not have to be exact like mentioned before but having the layout makes things super simple.

Extensive testing and high speed filming from many different companies (American Tackle included) clearly shows large waves and line slap that continues through the guide train... the stripper guide in casting and fly situations works the same as spinning... gathers, controls and funnels the line straight for optimal performance.
