Roger that's what I thought also when I first heard about using a 200 RPM motor but more and more people are going wih this motor for application purposes. I think my epoxy lines will come out much strighter with this method and it will cut my application time in half. I like the clutch idea so I can stop the rod with the touch of a finger rather thatn moving a foot pedal along the length of the

I asked yesterday about the production issues yesterday, they told me it was specific to the colored blanks that are taking up to 6 months to receive.

I have built two rods with these guides. The first did not use an underwrap, the second did. According to Aftco you need to use an underwrap and you need to size the guides to the diameter of the blank. Here is there instructions.
That being said I have not had a problem with either of the rods I built with these guides.

I bought two damaged lower kitchen cabinets and a damaged counter top from Lowe's. put the cabinets on either end and set the counter top on top. After a few months the counter top began to sag in the middle so I reinforced it with an L-shaped piece of metal running on the front side underneath the top from cabinet to cabinet . Everything was less than $100.

186. Re: glossy blank
Search "Painting Blanks" and pay attention to how to pigment epoxy with Testor's paint (Mudhole sells it). Ken Preston explains this technique also in his DVD.

You should pick up the Rod Maker issue on building stand ups, very informative.

Keep packing as you go along with a burnishing tool. Also I would have ta assume that your chevron or diamond is going to be an open wrap. If you lay down an underwrap of A thread you'll find that it provides resistance and your threads won't slide around as much as wrapping on a bare blank, plus it looks so much better than seeing the blank between designs.

I hate to admit it but my 'ol lady is a bull. The house is divided, we met at UCF so I believe she'll come around but with her in her second year of Med school at USF she has a bit more riding in Tampa.

I can't find a picture of it but by the sounds of it the "Bassmatic" company is who you need to talk to,check this link, I found it by googling "Amputee Fishing" there was a few more refrences to articles and products for people in this type of situation
I think the most frustrating thing that could happen to me is to have an injury that prevented me from fishing.

I ran into something similar after my cousin had a stroke. He lost use of his left arm was detrmined to go fishing again. I was referred to this website and it had a lot of good ideas for his situation. Your situation sounds a bit more challenging with both limbs missing but there are a lot of good ideas here. Does he have any type of prosthetics?

Cut the middle man out and start your own business. I've actually had a few ideas myself but after reading this I'll keep them to myself.

I build 30/50 Gators for digging and use these guides with a double foot butt guide. They are light but heavy duty, easy to wrap and IMO look cool and add a bit of uniqueness over production rods.

I thought you wanted a gag/red/black stick. You obviously need to match your tackle to what you are going after and a 130lb class stand up blank is about all that will suffice for jews. God I hope they open the season on jews soon, they are devouring everything on the wrecks around here and we had 2 big guys chase us off reefs in the keys. They are getting more and more aggressive and I can't wai

No way I could fight a marlin or giant tuna with the rod tucked under my arm, I usually just jump in the water and fight them into submission with my bare hands :)

Dave, I started to explain earlier but was at work and was spending to much time on the forum. If you looked up those blanks I mentioned they are rated to 50lb. but no one uses anything below 100lb. For the most part you are catching 10 - 20lb. fish that by themselves don't have a chance against 100lb main line. Add in a rock ledge and the same fish could shred 100lb. line but it's not a 100lb b

Size 12/18. You might need to hold a piece of scotchbrite on the tip for a few seconds while spinning on the lathe to take some of the finish off but it should match.

So after posting about finding alternatives to Decal Connection last night, I got home from work today and there were 2 new decals in my mailbox from them, both perfectly legible. A quick e-mail from them would have eased my mind over the past weekend, but I do appreciate them fixing the problem and Decal Connection is back on the top of my list when it comes to Customer Service. Now could someon

I'm near St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay area). I was just in Marco last month for work. Cool little island you got there, real laid back feeling. I ate at Guy Harvey's restaraunt at the Esplanade.

Billy, I mainly build this type of rod for charter captains and commercial guys. They either want the Seeker JB80H or Gator Glass T80XH. The JB80H is much more expensive and sensitive with a soft tip and works great for snapper too. The Gator Glass is a cheap "Meat Stick" that can't be beat. The roller guides are really not the way to go. Typically grouper fishing involves locked down d

Mike, you are probably right. I originally posted after getting an earful from my customer wanting his rod.
The thing about it is Decal Connection made my decal just how I wanted it, the only problem is that you can't read the words at the bottom of the decal. No problem, I even offered a solution to change the font so it might read more clear and they won't respond to me. Mike, your last sen

Lance I wouldn't base my decision on praise from this forum. My latest experience caused me to look for someone else. Like I said I've always had great service from them, the last time though, they didn't come through for me like I thought they would and now I would like to go with someone else. .
