I agree with Mark. The Point Blank, 701MLF, or the 701LXF, will fit the drop shot application perfectly.

Bill, how are you doing? Yes many years have passed since Cape Fear. The blanks were just to time consuming to build to be a profitable market. Ian, the reason you can identify the spine is because that T had a layer of fiberglass in it, to give it better structure. I haven't seen any blanks for 5 or 6 years, and the folks that have them will not part with them.

On the same blank, being used for the same application, I ended up with 13 guides and the tip total. Three doublet K 10, 7, 5.5 THREE kb5'S and # 5 runners to the tip. My customers love the set-up The two added guides add virtually no extra weight to the build.

35. Re: thread fuji
Pablo, Fuji has introduced 14 new colors. Go to anglers Resource site to view the new colors. The thread packs very nice and the colors really pop. Very easy to work with.

Evan, I don't believe you will find much variance from one supplier to another. Fuji has a MSRP price, and that is very close to the prices from all of the distributers. You may be looking at the Titanium prices verses the Stainless Steel frames. Different ring and frame materials make the price differences from all manufactures, not only Fuji.

Phil, Winn Grips now offers a split grip with the rear grip tennoned to allow the use of a butt cap. Check there web-site. On the rear grip that you are using, I use my bandsaw to remove the end of the grip right at the end of the grip material. Then reem to fit the blank and reinstall and sand the end of the grip. Hope this helps for future builds.

Ditto, Barry Weaver's statment. I also have had the privledge to build and use the Point Blanks since the prototypes were introduced. However I build mostly in-shore, Spekled Trout, Drum , Flounder and Striper, ' rods. And all of them have performed flawlessly.
The lightest rod I build used all Fuji components. Torzite, spin #16 - 4.0, Thirteen guides plus the tip. Split cork grips and SK2 spl

Gerald, I ran into the same problem last year. The closest match I found is the Fuji Ultra Poly NPA01-008. If that is too dark the 008 is a little lighter

Ed, the old saying " know your customer" probably holds true in this case. I don't know how many times someone has tried to get me to build a rod for there friend, without me knowing or meeting the customer. I treat gifts for family different than new customers. That being said, I always interview a new customer so they uinderstand just what they are getting and more-so I try to underst

Alistar, the 4.5 runners will work just fine for a 3 0r 4000 series reel.. If you feel uncomfortable with the 4.5's you can go up to 5's, but it isn't necessary.. And that is using braid up to 20lb. test.

David, I don't do a lot of posts, but I do share a lot of GPS information witrh Mr. Ising. From your imputs and the results I would use the following KL series set-up: a 20H, 10H, 5.5H, with size 5 TKB belly guide and size 5 TK running guides, and tip. This set-up works fine with up to 17lb. Florocarbon line, Good Luck E.P.

45. Re: reel parts
Can you please contact me. I own a small business located in eastern N.C. I do reel and rod repair and build custom rods. E-mail me eprodandreel@gmail.com. Even if the parts are over ten years old there are some parts that interchange with newer reels. If you are going to the expo in Winston-S

I must be too easy! As long as I had a down payment, or the cost of materials are covered, The customer will recieve three courtesy calls, then I set there toys in a back room rodrack. Eventually they show up. I've actually had one rod sit for three years. The customer had a stroke and totally forgot about the rod until his nephew came by with him to get a reel repaired. When he walked in my sho
