Thanks guys I’m just going to leave it as is. Going further I’ll just remember to verify fitment before I get to far ahead even if it means adding a masking tape arbor of 2 wraps. Worst case I can hide it more with a small fire grip of Eva. But as I said before in the end it’s for me and I’ll be the only one to notice

I got a ecs seat I installed 12-16 hrs ago. There must have been more play than I thought cause now I discovered the blank by the lock nut is not centered through the seat. It’s off by about 1/16. Is there anything I can do at this point to fix without destroying my grip and starting over? I built an epoxy ramp and it didn’t help to balance it out. The rod is for me so function will be fine but i

I ordered 2 point blanks from them but the blanks where shipped direct from angler resource. I also had a credit card fraud claim that may have stemmed from that order

Where excess drag is used I can definitely see the need for a high end insert and maybe distance casting more on the competitive side than anything.
My side of all this is more for freshwater fishing for bass. TiSic is $6 and alconite is $2 per guide roughly. I really felt the best was when we had the Ti alconite option. Don’t recall the price. Also likely it never sold well being manufacture

Thanks guys it sounds like I’ll stick to the alconites.
A change of subject but guys that build more are you finding the RV guide a solid choice or maybe you went back to using a size 10 stripper? I’ll be building utilizing the simple spiral

To begin I’m mostly a bass fisherman.
How do you guys feel guides impact a finished rod? Now I’m not talking poor guide spacing, guides to large, etc. that will definitely impact a rod. I’m more looking for insight on materials. I’m just a novice builder only have the time to build for myself and keep things basic and clean. In all my builds I’ve always used Fuji SS alconites and recently s

I use epoxy which I usually dye to a certain color but mostly black. Once the epoxy sets up a little I apply it and shape as needed with my finger with some DA. After that I can add thread if I like and finish it with finish

Only available from daiwa it’s exclusive to them. However daiwa also just let st croix use the guide so they may offer it

Anyone can give some feedback on this blank? I want it for throwing hair jigs for smallmouth and whatever else I can utilize it for. I built the 9600hs last winter it’s alright but don’t feel it has the castability I thought when I made the purchase sight unseen. It has been a awesome split shot and finesse swimbait rod though.

45. Rod finish?
I have always used flex coat and like the product. I’m a hobby builder just building for myself at times my plans to build x amount of blanks just doesn’t workout and life gets in the way. Problem is I open my flex coat use it but it’s self life has not been good once open. Is their a finish that has a better shelf life?

I got a chance to use an nrx and I’m really liking the guide train so I’m considering using this system moving forward on future builds

Anyone familiar with these rods and the guide train utilizing recoils and sic guides? Wondering the guide train size throughout and how you guys feel about recoils. There was a point many complained about recoils grooving not sure if this hybrid guide train fixes this issue or the brand itself has changed. Thanks

Tom what are you using to taper these small guides that leaves them smooth.
I do as mentioned earlier above of starting the wrap place the guide and establish a few wraps and pull the guide in place. However I find sometimes I pull the guide out as I pull it in place.

I really like the mlf St. Croix blanks. I personally use the 7’6 models since I mainly use them for Great Lakes smallmouth. If your that close to weeds I’d say go straight braid or up your leader size

So many opinions I love it. The 9600 has the edge. Plus it's not as expensive as many other offering in case I don't like it.
I own several sc576 blanks only one ML and that's my dropshot rod. The others are M that I use for tubes and finesse jigs. I just don't like extending a blank if there's a one piece option that already meets the length needed. However I also never extended a blank. I b

Guys I'm in search for a smallmouth blank to toss small hair jigs a good distance on very light line. I'm looking for it to be 8'-8'6 in length. These will be lightwire hooks and weight will never be over 3/16 and thats a stretch more on the side of 3/32. I won't be fishing for small stream smallmouth however this will be used on the Great Lakes for large smallmouth I hope. Line weight will be UL

The bs706 and st croix glass offerings are very nice. Id assume the rodgeeks is as well. Another option is to call kistler rods and see if you can one of their newly released reel and feel rods.

Well since i dont know your main usage of the senko ill add that i am in the process of building a rodgeeks 4 series. The blank of choice will be the 73mhxs. Ill be pairing this with a bfs reel. Pending how it goes ill likely even use it for smallmouth tube fishing on the big waters.
