Every fly rod that is very light in line weight (i.e. your 2 weight) IMHO should have permagloss. its lighter, and you dont need to get finicky with it like you do with the flexcoat. Flexcoat also turns amber if you leave it in the sun. The uv resistance is horrible. I say permagloss.

yeah if you use a power wrapper spin the rod at about 200 rpm, then just hold your hand steady and it forms a bead over the edge. looks quite nice actually.

Lmao, that blank is for 20 ozs of lead. Not a light fast spinning rod that can cast 3-4 ounces. Lol i say check the American Tackle travel series. They have some that might fit the bill. You can maybe cut a bit off the tip. As far as 3 piece blanks there isn't much to choose from, but thats what i would think o

Or you could wet sand with 400 grit, and then 600 wet. Clean. Then do what tom said. or vice versa.

Lol Jim, thanks. I saw that again today, but that rod is wayyy to heavy for what i need. Not fishing anything near that weight, and to be honest, thats pretty pricey.
Thanks!

Lets say... The stripper was a size 20.. Then all of your running guides would be... lets say a size 10. (just throwing that out there but i do build rods with those exact numbers.)
So yeah. the stripper is one size. and all the other guides are another size but all the same.
so..
20
10
10
10
10
10
10
10 depending on what kind of rod you are using... knots to be passed ect..

I just brought a 7' 6" rod on the plane that was two piece. It fit fine. No problem at all.
Spencer,
Thank you, I will check that out regardless to see if it fits my requirements.
Thanks!

Okay guys!
Now, Im in Southwest Florida, and I always go on charter boats, and party boats, but I'm a tackle hoe and always bring my own reels to the boats, and end up using the boats crappier rods. So here it goes... I basically need a rod that is appropriate to bring on the plane. Im not set on an exact size, but anywhere from 6' 6" to 8'. I fish for Kingfish, Snappers, Groupers, anything

My condolences to his family.
