I have built a lot of rod on the American Tackle Bushido blanks. I find their blanks very good quality and haven’t had a issue over the past 4 years. The staff at American Tackle will answer any questions you have on any of their products. Give them a try.

Hello Glenn. I use the Bushido line of blanks pretty much exclusively. I mainly build walleye and Northern Pike Rods in casting and spinning. Don’t be afraid to try the Bushido line of blanks. Myself and my customers really like them. Hope it helps.

I have built several rods for fresh water on both the Casting and Spinning versions of the Microwave Guide system. They are the best thing for casting and spinning rods. Easy to set up. The line flows through them like no other. Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed in them. Happy building.

Hello Captain. The new seats look and feel very well. The casting seams are minimal. My fav is the Apex. Don’t be scared to give them a try and keep a eye out for other new products from American Tackle. Most are available from MudHole now. Also there will be a new and better website up soon. Cory.

Hello Justin. Some good points there. I don't build ice rods to that length but as to the guides I like to use Pacific Bay guides down to 8 or 6 depending on the Rod. As for as keeping ice from building on the tip I like to use large size fly tip tops. They work well when out side. I own a guide service on Tobin Lake Saskatchewan where walleye over 10lb are common. Hope it helps.

Hello Mark. I have used the seats lots. I set my seat at 1" between the seats. This measurement is with the Fuji winding checks in place. This spacing works well when using a Shimano 2500 series reel. Hope it helps.

Thanks for all the help people. Checked it this morning and the heat seems to be working. I can touch the epoxy in the tart cup and it is not tacky. I am going to give it more time. Want to see something funny. Watch how carefully I measure the finish and mix now. Lol. Thanks again. Cory.

Hello Roger . No would not build on a poor foundation but I will try Tom K's advise on what to do. He stated that I should give it a day and if it doesn't set to apply a thin coat. The finish seams to be setting but slowly. I am going to wait until tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the comment. Cory

Thanks for the replies. Donald. I'm not sure what happened to my finish ? All the areas are tacky. Yes I use syringes and I am pretty sure I did things correctly. But I did something? I'm going to say it if anything would be my mixing. I have a little routine that I use when I do finish work so I'm not sure what I did wrong but I goofed somewhere. I thought maybe my resin and hardener was maybe o

Hello , I use LS Supreme all the time. About 2 1/2 years now with out a problem until yesterday. I keep my rod room at 80 degrees and always mix 3 cc's of finish and mix for 2min. or until it clears. Then put it in a tinfoil tart dish. I applied my second coat to a rod from the same bottles as the first in the same manor. My issue is that it is not setting up properly. It is firm and not moving b

The Rod is a two piece so only one guide will have to be removed. The seat is broken. I'm trying to save the blank. The Rod was given to me to try and repair. It's not so much about the repair but I like to try things like this on rods of no value so if the time arises I will have a good idea of how methods will work when I do need work on a rod of value. Thanks to all that took the time to reply

Hello. I am trying to help a friend with a broken reel seat. I seen somewhere that you can sometimes boil the reel seat in water to try and losen a reel seat. Has anyone done this or what is the best method. The rod is just a cheap production rod and was asked to give it a try. The seat is a split grip style and the rear section is the issue. I would like to ask for some input on this as I have n

Hello. Wondering if anyone has used metallic based gold flake on a rod blank. Wondering if I should use colour lock over it before I epoxy over the red leaf. I use U40 colour lock and epoxy. Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks

Hello ,a quick question about how some are cleaning and prepping your cork grips after turning.Ive just started to use colored cork accents in some of my cork.I like to seal them with U40 sealer and Thompsons Water Seal. Do you just wipe them down or use compressed air to remove the dust and small particles left from turning. Thanks Cory

Thanks for the help from all of you. I'm kind of a nut so to speak. Yes my rod is level. I'm sure my issue was to much epoxy and then leaving it be to do other things. When I came back hours later I had the uneven finish and it had been turning for several hours. I am in the process of blocking it out and will reapply as Tom suggested. I have seen the high speed application method and may try it
