I am looking for an equivalent travel fly rod blank (3 or 4 piece) to the St Croix SCIII, 3F905.4 in 5wt and 6 wt. Since St Croix no longer sells blanks, I cant replentish my supply. Your help is appreciated.

I have a butt cap which has a round mother of pearl inlay that really looks good with this.

My wife encouraged me to do this since she saw the verigated madeira thread that I bought. She said it looked a lot like Mother of pearl and would make a great wrap. I had this give away to do so decided to try it. I think it worked out well. Sometimes the simple things look great too.

Jim Rippe--small world. I did this for a client just a couple of weeks ago....Guess these things run in cycles.

First attempt to make a butt cap with fish insert. Cut with Xacto and smoothed with dremel. Poured all at once. Should do two pours for more control.

I have had this bouncing around my head for a while. I wanted to use all the colors of Madeira I got at the Show...used most of them.

Needed a little orange in my life. Even with lots of color preserver, it bleeds thru a lot. Doesnt look too bad after I put finish on but not as good as without.

I always liked the cane handles and I decided to make me one. It is very easy to work with and I think looks great and kind of 'antique' when finished. I used dark blue thread to accentuate the blue rod.

Billy will figure out pretty soon that I used an irregular pattern...like I said, just fooling around. All Gudebrod thread and did not decide to use yellow until last minute...better than the tan I originally planned. Four axis fade.

I need to be sure I can tell which rods are mine so I put my name on it. Unique solution, nes pas? I love those little springy hook keepers too. Tried yellow and orange for lettering on garnet background...worked ok but have to remember the trick to using light threads...paint it white underneath. Rats...

the handle for my new buzzbait/frog flinger. Used the Copano Burl from Andy Dear. My wife says it looks like chocolate chip cookie dough. I tend to agree, as I usually do....

This was inspired by Al Ciner's wrap of a few weeks ago. I really liked it and the Sulky metallic thread. Found out however that the strength of the Sulky metallic is not really great. Otherwise I really like it and looks great.

One of the hardest I ever tried to photo--color an focus difficult. The little stars at the pointof the wrap is actually silver thread which was layed down first. If you close the wrap right, you get little "rhinestones" at the end. Pink & Purple is her favorites, of course.

I took this photo with the flash on. The colors are not true. See the following one for truer colors. Some of you camera experts can probably tell me what I am doing wrong. Using a Canon A60.

I wondered what this would look like on 4 axis after I did it on 2. Interesting. The Sulky thread has a glistening effect that cant be seen in the photo.

I had an order for a whole family of 4 to have their own rods. They each picked something really different from each other.

Handles for the family of rods. Mom has small hands the rest are large. Kid's rods have multicolored burl.

I was fooling around and came up with this one. Notice that the split diamonds go the opposite directions.
