Is there a company that sells a material like holoshimmer but wider. Its just such a pain trying to wrap trim bands etc with the stuff as its so thin and narrow. If not how are you all wrapping with the stuff. I find it almost impossible to get the stuff to lie flat and exactly side by side. Thanks

Any good videos out there on starting thread art? I have a book and have seen several but find it hard to learn this from a book. A video with step by step instructions would be great. Thanks

Im not familiar with the mica pearl but I am familiar with candy burple... Candy Burple is a pretty dark color... Its almost a purple / blue color. Since its so dark the pearl underneath may not show through.. Let us know what affect the pearl has. I have been wanting to experiment with some different techniques involving candy. I just havent had the opportunity lately. If you are looki

Just sand the clear then recoat... Make sure to not sand through the clear or you will need to apply more base first. To be honest I use windex to prep my rods. Even use the same stuff on auto parts and have never had an issue.

LOL yes auto paint is VERY expensive... One good thing though is that a quart of clear should be good to clear MANY MANY rods. This is why im not a big fan of the spraymax clears... once you activate the can its life expectancy is limited. I have heard you can extend it several days by putting it in the fridge but still it eventually is no good. The only way I could see it being worth while w

If you were painting a car, I would say stay with the same MFG for your primer / base / clear etc. Granted, I know you can mix and match at times however what happens that one time things goes bad. Trust me you dont want to be sanding an entire clear job off a car because it fish eyes all over. Now, as far as rods are concerned go with the clear you have. Odds are it will be fine and in a

If what you have doesnt look like orange peel then im betting you sprayed it dry. Is your clear a rough almost sandy texture. How far away were you holding the gun? I would still suggest trying something before going out and buying any additional guns or needles. I really think what you have will work. Set your gun up with the recommended air pressure per the instructions of the gun.

What you have happening is whats typically called orange peel. Its when the clear doesnt flow out properly because too little sprayed out. Or it could have been sprayed dry. Like I said in the other thread we were discussing this in. There is a learning curve to spraying paint and the only way to get good is spray time. This is why I suggested getting several small .5" dia pieces o

If you have a craft store near you they should have casting resins... "Easy Cast" has been said to be the same stuff re-packaged as another brand of wrapping resin. I cant confirm or deny that its just what Ive heard. Ive used it with good results. Lows sells a coating called Glaze Coat. Its used for coating bar tops. Mixes the same as any other resin and actually has what I thin

Anyone used this stuff. As always I see something and think about how I could possibly use it for a purpose it was never intended for. My first thoughts were for carbon fiber handles. Possibly coat then if they become scratched you could just peel the stuff away and recoat.. Maybe ????

I wish they would come out with something like this that didnt have a limited pot life. A big reason for not using it is that once activated its life is limited. If they could make something that had the same shine and durability with an unlimited pot life... or at least a descent amount of time... it would be great. I wouldnt have to break out the paint gun, and lines, and exhaust fan, and
