Nope, not back to the old grind. I'm building a rod using yellow thread wraps on a dark-green blank. I'll spray paint the blank white where the yellow wraps will fall to allow the yellow to "pop" - I have done this before with coated guide feet. This time I'm using REC NiTi snake-foot guides and I would like the white undercoating to cover the NiTi guide feet so the result does not resemble a spotted dog. Any suggestions on how I can put a durable white coating on the REC guide feet? Re: help prepping guide feet

Testors white should work fine. Any paint that will not be attacked by the CP or epoxy should work. Try just one on a blank scrap and see if you like it. Re: help prepping guide feet

Thanks, Mike. I am mostly concerned about the adhesion of white paint to bare nickel-titanium alloy and whether or not any special preparation to the NiTi alloy is necessary. I'll try Testors white and test how well it sticks to NiTi alloy. Re: help prepping guide feet

Make sure the guide foot has no oil on it before applying the paint. Re: help prepping guide feet

Instead of using Testors paint, mix up a tiny bit of epoxy and color it white with marbling pigment and coat it with epoxy. Epoxy won't attacl epoxy. Mac Re: help prepping guide feet

Sounds good, John. I'll try it. Thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
