have had some snake guides groove and cut after many seasons. do any of you know of a brand or company that uses an ultrahard coating on their snake guides? is hard chrome the hardest available? are there differences in the types of chrome used? Re: snake guide coatings?

The two best snake guides in my opinion are Snake Brand and REC Recoils. Both are highly resistant to wear. Re: snake guide coatings?

I have used H&H for years without any issues. Re: snake guide coatings?

I don't understand how fly line could groove or cut snake guides, but backing could. Still, one would have to fight a large number of strong fish way into the backing to groove a snake guide. I should be so lucky. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/19/2013 08:49AM by Phil Ewanicki. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
