Hi Gents,
Due to some mundane household chores, which always get the way of important things like fishing and rodbuilding, haven't done much on my micro beach rod. Did some more static testing and 10 guides will be the go. I had a size 8 stripper and two size 6 transition guides. Now looks like a size 6 stripper and 9 size 4's with a size 6 tip until I can get a size 4 with a big enough tube. Have only got 7 4's and have ordered more from my guide supplier who has just released a lot of new guides, reelseats, butt caps, plugs, nylon rear grips and aluminium butts. They're rapidly catching up with the quality and range of the better known suppliers. Can't mention them hear as they're not a sponsor but I've been working on that also and they're moving in the right direction. The lady that runs it has agreed to burn a bit of midnight oil and try and find a manufacturer who will produce titanium framed tips with SiC rings in larger tube sizes. I suggested 3.0mm for size 4 and 5 and 3.6mm for size 6. If that comes off I will be changing a lot of tips as it's still hard to get the right tube size and I've got quite a few with tips that are bigger than the running guides. Doesn't make a lot of difference but every bit of weight saved is a bonus. The rod is going to look weird with a 6 at each end of the guide train and all those little micros in between. I'll get used to the look and I'm confident it will work well. Need to do some more testing when I get all the guides to see how the new type of 4's and 6 I will be using effect the setup. Hi Robert,
Eat, Sleep,Fish,Nothing Else Matters. Try that on your wife or girlfriend and see where it gets you. Mines gotten used to it, sort of!!!!! As far as I'm concerned rodbuilding, reel maintenace and repair, lure, fly and sinker making are all part of fishing and it's where I spend almost all of my spare time. Work supplies the cash but otherwise gets in the way of what I'd rather be doing. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Going to get weirder!.

Hello Col.
Well I never would have guessed that one, Thanks! Total free agent at the moment so I do what I want (mostly) but there are bills and taxes so I still have to work till I can retire(eligible 1/25/1213). The "bills" part may keep me working a year or two more than I want, however thre are still some options that may yet open for me and I might leave early or on time, it's a wait and see thing at this point and it all depends on upper management (so I'm probably screwed) so you never know. Yea I do the maintenance on my reels and even some repairs but most of my reels are spinners and when I wear them out I just chuck them and get new, however I do not own any big dollar spinners my TLD's and PENN's I do repair. I make most of my flies, and sinkers, but only some of my lures if you don't count re-hooking and cleaning if you do then I do them all. Well Thanks for the info and keep up with your ESFNEM!!!
