I have to repair a 2 piece rod that`s detachable butt disappeared.I want to make it a one piece rod by putting a butt extension on it. I was thinking of putting an eva rear grip on a piece of rod blank and gluing this and the top of the rod into a graphite reel seat. Will this be strong enough to handle the reel and bring in fish? The rod is a medium heavy action saltwater rod meant for bluefish or striped bass in the northeast. Re: rod extension

I have never seen it done like that. I would insert and epoxy an internal piece of blank or a rod that connects the two pieces together under the reel seat. This way you are not relying on the just the reel seat for support. Re: rod extension

I wouldn't trust it as described, Mudhole has aluminum reelseats that were designed for that purpose. Re: rod extension

OK
Why not put a piece of rod into the tip ( if I get you right ) Figure where your handle size and seat will be Tape on some guides Go out and cast it Load it with the weight of the fish you want to catch If it breaks -- It ain't going to work Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
