Until I can find an authentic seat for a bamboo rod I am restoring I have an aluminum seat that I would like to install over the origfinal wood arbor that remains on the rod. My question is how to attach it. My first thought is 5-minute epoxy as being relatively likely to be removed by modest heat--that would be unlikely to damage the rod. Now I'm having second thoughts. Any other suggestions for a fishable attachment that can be confidently removed without damage to arbor or rod??? (If it matters the rod is a Granger Champion, which suggests that it was likely a pre-WWII rod, and therefore likely had strips glued with hide glue. Re: temporary reel seat attachment

I might try hot melt glue or ferrule cement. George Forster Fort Collins, CO Re: temporary reel seat attachment

If you know you are going to remove it later, hi temp tip top glue or ferrule cement as George mentioned is a great option. 5-minute epoxy is as difficult to remove as rod bond once it's cured.
