Brass tube to keep shiness?

I want to use a piece of brass tube (from Ace Hardware) of about 1" - 11/2" long and 0.5" ID over the blank in the front of the reel seat for looks. Have polished the tube to a gold mirror shine but in time gets dull. What can I do to maintain it shiny? If I apply thread epoxy on it would it keep it from dulling in color? Perma Gloss might be a better idea then wrap epoxy as it scratches easily. Re: Brass tube to keep shiness?

Lacquer has traditionally been used to coat brass and copper and keep them from oxidizing. Phil has given you a better idea, however, as PermaGloss is much harder and wouldn't be nearly as subject to wear as either lacquer or epoxy.
