Just put the grips on my new blank. 12 inch rear 6 inch fore. and reelseat. the epoxy doesnt seem to have dried. i used rod bond, but my room is about 67 degrees. its been at least 2 hours or so and it hasnt set up hard yet. should i be worried. i need to know how to get te stuff of without making a huge mess. IDK WHAT TO DO. ive never had mixing problems before but that is probably what it is. normally really good on the 50/50

Rod Bond is not very picky about the ratio, it just needs to be somewhat close. It takes overnight to set.

Gabe, if you are using regular rod bond and not five minute, you are most likely okay. Rod Bond takes a good 4-6 hours to harden and overnight to fully cure. I'd give it time before worrying about it.

Unless you used the "quik Bond", the regular Rod Bond takes 24 hours to cure.

im used to it getting at least hard. its like still workable like i could glue up another rod if i had enough leftover. i guess ill wait overnight and hope for the best. if not... BACK TO THE WEB I GO!

If it is still workable after two hours, pull the handle off of the rod, and use DNA to clean up the rod and inside the handle.

I am guessing that you mixed a 50:50 mix out of the same container.

After two hours, the glue should be semi setup.

nooo. did not do that Roger. lol the epoxy set up finally. but it was definitely still workable after 2 hours. i think because it was so cold in my room. i know i didnt mix it out of the same container because the epoxy wasnt white... nor was it amber colored. it was in the middle. so i know i mixed 50.50.

Standard Rod Bond is a very slow setting and curing epoxy. Expect it to take 4 to 6 hours to set (longer in a cold room) and require at least 12 to 24 to be cured enough to be workable.

I suspect everything is fine. Give it another day and see what happens.

I never watch my mixture with Rod Bond as it is very forgiving. I mix a glob of resin to a glob of hardner and set it down until the next day. Now, if using epoxy, I mix 3 cc`s of each.............EXACTLY.

FWIW I tried their "quick bond" for the first time this weekend. While working time is quite short (maybe ten minutes in my climate) it still takes several hours to really set up.
