I've been given a carbon blank to clean up the old epoxy from. I'm thinking about using acetone but concerned it may damage the blank and more importantly my health.
I've cleaned up as much by scraping carefully but still need to get rid of the residual, any ideas? Philip Re: Removing old epoxy

Phillip.
Get a bucket of water and put the blank in the bucket of water and get various grades of wet and dry sandpaper and clean up any residual epoxy. It works very well and is very quick. The use of the wet and dry with water keeps all of the dust out of the air and it doesn't take long to give you a nice unifrom matt finish that is ready to build on. I personally would never cut or sand a graphite blank, especially the higher modulus types. Acetone is also bad news, especially if the rod has a painted finish. Repeatedly pour boiling water over the epoxy until it softens, the scrape with a plastic butter knife. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
