Questions about Forecast SH1081

I'm thinking about a light, long spinning rod to throw light jigs and grubs or light floats over crickets/worms; so that means for panfish mostly. A few questions: 1 - would the SH1081 compare to a mid-weight fly rod or is significantly faster than that? 2 - how does the 1081 compare to the 1082? The specs make the 1081 looks lighter in the tip and comparable in the butt. Any other observations about the blank would be welcome. Re: Questions about Forecast SH1081

Hi Marty,
The SH1081 is a fair amount lighter in tip action than an F905-2DB, but with a bit more backbone. just compared both that are on our display racks. Hope this helps, Best wishes, Ron Schneider Schneider's Rod Shop Mountain Home, Arkansas [www.schneidersrods.com] mtnron40@yahoo.com 870-424-3381 Re: Questions about Forecast SH1081

Helpful comparison Ron. I noticed in an earlier post that you build the 1081s. What do you use them for in your neck of the woods? I would think we would target many of the same species. Does it cast light lures/bait well? Re: Questions about Forecast SH1081

We use them quite a bit for light Trout spinning rods on the White and Norfork rivers, also built as a light line trolling/live bait rod on Lake Norfork.
Lots of fun landing Stripers on 6# test line. It seems to do well tossing live bait and lures up to about 1/4 oz Best wishes, Ron Schneider Schneider's Rod Shop Mountain Home, Arkansas [www.schneidersrods.com] mtnron40@yahoo.com 870-424-3381 Re: Questions about Forecast SH1081
