Okay fellas, my searching skills are weak and I can't seem to find any recent threads so here we go...

Given a grip that is made with either straight EVA or cork plus X-flock, which would yield a lighter overall grip with a OD 1" with 12" length and ID 1/2"?

Cork and flock. Even lighter would be foam and flock.

There are some types of EVA that are reasonably light, but none I'm aware of that is going to be as light as cork with anywhere near the same rigidity.

I just took a 7" cylander of cork with a 1/2" ID & 1.1 D, and a 7" cylander of teh hardest EVA on Earth, also 1/2"ID &OD of 1.25". On my postage scale which only goes to tenths, teh Cork was .5oz, teh EVA was .6oz. If the cork was 1.25"OD tehy would have teh same exact weight. The reason everyone thinks EVA is so heavy is they will instal a .25"ID grip on a blank with a .750 butt, where with cork you have to ream out all that excess material.

As far as which one is a harder material once teh shirnk tube is installed - I'd bet you wouldn't be able to tell teh difference between teh hard as a rock EVA and cork.

I was assuming, incorrectly perhaps, that he was referring to uncovered EVA, or cork with X-wrap.

If you put X-wrap on both, the hardness isn't going to vary by much.

MAybe I'm the one who misunderstood? I re read it and see it could have been interpretted both ways. So I guess whichever way he asked the question he got his answer, lol.

Will, as Tom stated, you will probably find that foam and the shrink tube will give you the hardest/lightest combo. I bought a kit from Riley Rods on the left that had a bakers dozen or so foam blanks in it. Great price, quick and easy. I've put the X-wrap on them and they feel great.

Tom, I forgot the EVA+flock option, glad you mentioned it :)

Just looking for the lightest combination available for full length foregrip and rear grip for an inshore rod.

Rigidity and durability are pluses too.
