Hello everyone! I need help finding a 2 piece 7 to 8ft ultralight blank which will be a spinning combo. I'm looking for a blank that can cast very light jigs....jigs 1/50 ounce and lighter. I started looking for a 1wt maybe even a 2wt but can not find any in my preferred length. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Chad Re: need help finding an ultralight blank

1 and 2 wt is very light. What guides? You could potentially go 4 wt and be fine with 'normal' sized guides as they load the blank fine. For 1 or 2 wt, are you using 2 lb test?

I would think that some of the Batson fly blanks in RX6 or RX7 would do what you need. I agree with Mo that just the guides and whip of the blank should enable you to cast light stuff, at least as far as you'll be able to cast something that light. Re: need help finding an ultralight blank

Check out latest issue of In Fisherman, then start looking through the blank catalogs. I'm going to start an ultra light spinning rod soon, and I selected, with a little help, the American Tackle fly blank AMF 763. Wen I get it I will decide whether to build it as a 7 1/2 foot rod, or a 7 foot rod. It is the first rod of this type I've tried, so it's an experiment. Will use micros, design it around a specific light reel, and have minimum spin guides before the micros. Sounds like fun.
I considered the Batson blanks as suggested, but wanted to try an AMT blank this time. Re: need help finding an ultralight blank

what sort of action do you want tho??
im yet to try building an UL spin rod with a fly blank but i would have thought it would have been alot slower than a purpose built spinning rod. i have a loomis imx S-781 thats rated to 2-6lb and has a minimum 1/32 casting weight. that said it will easily cast weightless 3inch plastics. i plan on extending mine to about 7 foot to help with its light weight casting and it has a nice fast action tho not 2 piece like you said. so if your wanting a faster actioned rod go with a purpose built spinning blank Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
