Doug Cox's Wrapper

Does anyone that attended the NC gathering remember where Doug Cox got the material for the base of his wrapper? I think that it's from a scrap yard, but I'm not sure. I can find it from the supplier but yikes it's expensive.

He got it at D.H.Griffin in Greensboro but as he mentioned, they cut up all they had shortly after he bought his.

go to the 8020 inc home page, scroll down 3/4 way on right and look for 80/20 garage sale link. this is where they sale their odd size pieces. you can find flat stock, angle and the extrusion you are looking for. i think doug used the 2-slot 15 series for his bed. i used the 3-slot 10 series. the ten is thinner and can make it hard to hang somthing over the side and attach it to the bed because the slot is so close to the bench. you have to look through all the pages because the items are not in any order. their descriptions of marks or damage are accurate from my experience. items change from day to day so you have to keep looking sometimes to find what you want.

I was at Griffin's today looking for more base material---found a lot that had already been torched. The pieces were all 3 foot or less with one or both ends melted. Most of time, the better aluminum is in the demolition dumpsters on the left side of the front scale house. The 8020 part number is 1530--they also have a lot of odd lengths on the @#$%& site store. I will post a "aluminum update" if I run across more at the scrape yard for those around the Greensboro area.

Thanks Doug I'll keep an eye out. I'm also going to check out the scrap yard here in Winston-Salem.
