First up, Hi to all!! Have been lurking for a LONG time cuz my idiot self kept getting deleted (the whole name thing) over the last year. Anyways, giving threadmaster highbuild a try. Use Afcote, just curious to any pitfalls I should watch out for compared to Aftcote. I know the working time is shorter so I've heard. Re: Threadmaster Finish

its pretty thick so it holds bubbles more readily thats pretty much common sense that would happen. Re: Threadmaster Finish

Re: bubbles. After you mix it up, pour it out onto a piece of tin foil. Take a straw and gently blow onto th epoxy and PRESTO, the bubbles will disappear. I personally think it beats FC hands down. Nice clear smooth finish. Let us know how you make out.

All I use now is TM. Re bubbles - I use Pac Bay mixer and also dribble out on alum foil. Some bubbles come from air coming from tunnels through thread. I use a needle to "pop" bubbles late in the process, as I rotate blank.

I still use Flex Coat. With any high build you just have to mix slowly to keep bubble formation down. I like high build epoxy. Actually prefer it. You can apply it thick or thin. Once you've done a few rods with it you'll pretty much know all the ins and outs of a specific finish. Re: Threadmaster Finish

Thanks fellas, gonna give her a go. Will let you know how it turned out. Hoping to be able to do just one coat of epoxy on the guides. Re: Threadmaster Finish

TM is as user friendly as any finish I've ever tried (I tried a lot of them). Now, I won't use anything else.
I agree about the high build finishes. They're actually much easier to manipulate than the "light" finishes IMO. Re: Threadmaster Finish

Mike, I am getting ready to use FC High Build for the first time. Any newbie suggestions? Re: Threadmaster Finish

Everything good that anyone above said about TM, and how to use it, is true.
