Seeker popping blanks?

Hello. I'd like to ask a question about the Seeker popping blanks. Recently a friend of mine and myself went on a trip out to one of the local reservoirs. We killed'em throwing flukes and rip baits. I just finished a new rip abit rod, and caught some respectable fish on it, but my buddy was outfishing me using the flukes. His rod was the kicker; unlike anybody I had fished with before or seen fish, he uses a Loomis GL2 PR845 for flukes. And when I finally switched over to the rig I was using, I discovered my usual fluke rod didn't have enough. Though I could the throw the bait far, I could in no way make the bait dance like my friend could with the PR845. So I'm now in the business of looking a comparable blank. I found the GL2 blanks of the PR845 for $83. But when I looked at the Sekker blanks, they sell a model in the same class, tip dia., and length. Has anybody used this blank and would it be suitable for what I'll be using it for? If not, any suggestions? Re: Seeker popping blanks?

I think you'll find the Seeker too heavy and powerful for those flukes. Just my personal experience with that particular model. Great blank, but not what I think you want for throwing flukes.

You could use a 5 power Batson popping blank or a 3 power IMB or MB 61/2 ft or 7 ft bass blank for flukes and other similar plastics. Re: Seeker popping blanks?

Ok, so the Seeker is out of question. I took a look at the pooping blanks from Batson. How about a IP 844 model, in the RX7 blanks? Re: Seeker popping blanks?

The 4 power popping blank is my favorite, usually works well for lots of things including crankbaits. I haven't tried one with a 5/0 hook before like the flukes can be rigged with.
I wouldn't discount the Seeker blanks, I'd just order one in the S-Glass to reduce the weight some and increase sensitivity. The BS706S S Glass blank that I use for crankbaits may also work as I like a light tipped rods for flukes, I just have never tried it or the popping blanks. Bingham's has some of the S glass Seeker @#$%& blanks, Angler's Workshop had some also when I needed one. Re: Seeker popping blanks?

Thanks Spencer. Yeah, I never used a rod like this before either for a fluke. But the way you could fish them with it, it was incredible. Plus, it could double as a rod for my lighter rip baits, like Pointer 78 and Bevy Shads. By the way, have you used the 7'6" Seeker S glass? Looking for a long rod to throw small deep divers on at the local reservoirs. The fish can be spooky fishing cranks here down at Castaic and Piru, so longer = farther boat positioning. That's another reason for the pooping rod with the flukes. The tip makes throwing them a long way much easier. Re: Seeker popping blanks?

Chris,
No I've never used or seen the 7 1/2 ft blank. Angler's has the S Glass version of some of the E glass blanks for just a couple dollars more listed in their catalog. The part number stops with a "SB" instead of a "B". Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
