I have used Flex Coat, and Devcon 5 min epoxy, and they have quite an odor. Do all 5 min epoxies have this?

Thanks,
Marc

Lamar`s ultra Gel has a different odor but you have to get it to you nose to smell it.When I was working with it last night I don't remember smelling it.

Yes, they all have that odor. It's a chemical in the hardener called mercaptin. In the industry it's affectionately known as "the rotten egg hardener" because it smells like....

Butyl Mercaptin is the smell of a Skunk... It is the Sulpher content that smell like rotten eggs. Same smell in a Chemical Pulp mill...

Made that in High School Chemistry. Got into a little trouble..

All the ones I've tried do. Now Devcon's Plastic Welder is REALLY strong smelling.

When you get to the point where you don't notice the smell, you qualify for a 12-step program - - -
