HELP on long Butt Cap

I'm looking to make some split rear handles on some freshwater bass rods and need some help on the following.

I don't know if any of you has heard of a japanese company that makes a really awesome rod by the name of "Megabass" but if you have seen their handles you know what I mean in this post.

Most split rear grips have a small cork butt cap that is only an inch and a half long. What I'm looking to do is do the same thing except with EVA or preferrably Hypalon and longer in lenght.

I'm having a problem because all of the pieces that I have found has a hole on both ends. What I need is a whole at the top but not the bottom. Even a solid piece would be fine. I'll make my own hole. So in short.

Does anybody make a 4-5" piece of Hypalon or EVA butt cap material?

Or does anybody have any suggestions on how I may accomplish this but still have the butt cap have the appearance as a one piece?

Thanks for all of your help,

Tony

I know Mud Hole carries some solid EVA blocks. Not sure if anyone else has it, might want to check with Custom Tackle.

Why not use a plug cutter or lathe turn a small piece to plug the end of a normal bored through grip that you leave hanging out beyond the blank butt? you could just get a bit longer grip to start with, knowing that the piece you cut off to use as a plug will color match.

I use the ones Mud Hole sells. They have a 1/4 " hole in the front / small end about 1/2" deep I think. Just leave a half inch of blank sticking out,cut the hole the size I want with a Dremel and a stone. Glue it all up, let dry and sand to the contour I want. You can make a split grip the same way by using a short piece grip material and the butt cap. Sand to the contour you want.
