thread spool sticker label rant!

NASA can glue a thermal tile onto a Shuttle and make it stick through re-entry, but the thread companies can't keep a thread spool sticker from falling off before the thread is used up. Grrrrrr!

Try writing on the spools as soon as they come in with a thin line sharpie. You have just hit on one of the worlds great secrets. Why you cant hear what anyone says on a loud speaker is another.

The end of the spool isn't flat - there are "spoke" edges that the sticker has to try and hang onto. Which, of course, it can't.

Here I was thinking it must have been my technique that causes the labels to come off quite quickly.

These days the first thing I do is ensure it is stuck down well. They come barely stuck on from the factory. Tom is corrrect with the spokes and number of empty areas that the sticker cannot stick to, but you'd think that A) the factory could get them on straight which would help a little bit since there is an edge all the way around to stick the label on, and B) stick them on well, or use better adhesive.

If all I had to complain about was a sticker coming off of a spool of thread I'd be in in great shape.

Ever try glue???????

If people spent more time on important things, there would be a shortage of flyrods.

I keep my thread in seperate boxes according to size. That way if the sticker falls off I still know what size it is. As far as color I have to ask my wife what looks good anyway.
