Manufacturer applied sticker

I'm working on a blank with a manufacturer's label applied to the butt end of the rod. Is it safe to scotch brite over the sticker and glue up the handle? I've been picking and peeling at it but it doesn't want to come off.

Do any of you guys leave the sticker for identification purposes if the blank needs to go in for waranty? I have heard it is a good idea, so that if the blank needs to go in for a warranty claim, you can remove the handle and other components prior to shipping and the sticker will be there. I just cant see how you can remove the handle without destroying the sticker. As far as how well the handle will be bonded to the blank in the event you leave the sticker is another question I have. I'd love to hear the opinions and experiences of others on this.

It holds fine, the sticker doesn't consume that large of an area in the first place. All St Croix blanks come with the sticker - one on the blank and one in the bag. I shudder to think how much extra time would be spent removing them, if it were important. I do rough them up, mostly because they are in the area that I am scuffing. I don't remove the grips/seat when sending rods in for warranty, just the guides and top if they are in good shape.

This blank is a St Croix. I did finally get the sticker off (and used Goo Gone too) but I'm not sure it was worth the effort. Next time I'm building on one of these I'm going to just ignore the sticker and rough up the blank as if it wasn't there. Pretty time consumming getting that thing off.

Thanks for the advice.
