Old bamboo flyrod help/identification/direction

OK. I need some help/guidance from some of you bamboo guys. An older fellow brought me an old bamboo flyrod to repair today. Or I should say 2/3 of an old bamboo flyrod. On the phone he said the tip had been broken but when he got here, there was no tip. The only reason I told him I would check into it is that the rod was given to him by his brother in 1943 before the brother went over to Europe to fight in WWII. Now he figured to get it fixed up to give to his grandson as a wall hanger. So here I am. Not being a bamboo rod expert thought maybe you all could help me maybe identify it and help with a plan or advise on this thing. I do not think the rod is really anything too special as a rod, just a hardware store split bamboo rod. It has no brand markings on it that I can find. The whole rod would be 9 ½’ long, estimated a 7 or 8 weight. The reel seat is chrome over brass, down locking sliding ring with a cantilevered type locking nut on the slide ring. Cork grip 7 ½” cigar shape. 1 small red agate stripper and 3 snakes on the center section. Ferrules are chrome over brass. If I could find a compatible tip for this thing I would be happy to make it pretty so the kid can have a memory of old grandpa. I have thought about @#$%& but are there any other sources for this type of thing? Any ideas, suggestions, or comments other than that I am a fool for taking on this snipe hunt? Thanks for any help you can give.

Greg

The problem your going to have is matching ferrule type and size. I probably have a tip section for the rod, but to match the ferrule??????????? You can emai me at : mrparramoure@yahoo.com . Ther are alternatives , I run into this almost daily. And we can discuss it further if you like.

Tight lines to all <*))))><

You can go over to Classic Fly Rod Forum and post there to get an ID on the rod. Art should be able to come up with a tip suitable to complete the rod as a wall hanger and might even be able to identify the rod for you. Not likely to be worth fixing up beyond that. Don
