Hollow rods for sibiki bait rigs

Does anyone know if/where you can get blanks with a hollow core and an open tip and another opening at about the point of a butt guide?

I have seen these in Offshore Angler catalog for use with sibiki rigs. They have a "funnel" shaped cone tip at the end that allows the little hooks on the sibiki to go inside the rod. Great for keeping them out of the way when not in use.

I'd like to wrap one myself but haven't been able to find appropriate blanks or the funnel tip.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

~Troy

I don't believe Troy is looking for the Interline rods. I saw the rods you' re looking for Troy, at the Long Beach Fishing Tackle show in feb and asked the guy running the display booth if the blanks were available and he said no and didn't really want to discuss it, had to buy the whole thing or nothing.

The vendor was not telling you the truth, or did not know.

Merrick Tackle carries blanks and components. Do not look in the obvious place - that of the blanks section. Look in the RODS > Bronco (274-275) section of their online catalog, or see page 275 of their paper catalog, middle of the page marked "SABIKI".

If you don't have an acct with them maybe someone else here can order the parts for you.

Merrick Tackle Partnos.

SABBLANK - Sabiki Blank
SABTIP - Tip
SABRING - Ring for Sabiki Rod.

Troy,
Summer Moon, Dan Craft, and others I'm sure can help you with products from the Merrick catalog if you need a retail source.

I thought I'd throw an idea out there that one of my kayak fishing buds came up with for the "Ghetto" version of a Sabiki Rod...

He used a piece of 1/2" PVC with the flared end as the rod and attached a grip and clamped a reel to the other end.

Here is a link to his project... [www.norcalkayakanglers.com]

Ghetto ver. - Interesting build using cheap materials.

The Cabelas innerflow trolling rod would do a good job of this. I use these rods for Striper and they are great rods for the $$ use link below

The innerflow rods and interline rods are too narrow inside for storing sabiki rigs. The Sabiki rods are like an upside down blank, fairly thick.

Guys:

Thanks so much for your help.

The home made one is something I'm going to have to try, even though I'll probably end up purchasing the "proper" components and building the real deal at some point.

Thanks again!
