1471. Rod blank stresses
I've not paid much attention to rod building in the last 4 years,up until then I tried to keep up with what was going on in the tackle industry in general and rod making in particular. Got away from it due to severe health issues. I can do some limited fishing now and because I'm retired and disabled I have the time but not unlimited funds for rod building again.Have subscribed to Rodmaker and o

1472. Back Issue Alert
RodMaker Magazine Back Issues
For all intents and purposes, all of Volume 1 is now sold out. There are a handful of issues #3 and #5, but only a handful of each.
All issues of Volume 2 are nearly sold out. Currently there are less than 100 copies of each remaining and that represents less than a one month supply in most instances. If you want any of these, now is the time to get them.

I'm considering purchasing some attachment for the Clemens Lathe I own. I love the Lathe and highly recommend it, even considering the initial cost. I can visualize the lathe lasting the rest of my life and still having usefulness to the guy that buys it in the estate sale that my wife will have shortly after I'm gone.

1474. Spining Flyrods
Forgot to ask Bob this question this morning so I'll throw it out to the board. For flyrods, which side of the spine is best to build on? Is there a firm philosophy on this or do opinions widely differ...or both? Fire away.

1475. Blank with 2 spines
I've got a G-USA blank with 2 spines. They seem to be equal. Anyway I turn the blank either of the two spines will turn up and they seem to be 180 degrees from each other. So, I reckon it doesn't matter which spine I build on as long as they're equal right?
Thanks,
Steve

I just got a blank in the mail today (Lamiglas 6'6" 3wt glass fly blank) and it has a slight curve to the tip. My question is - should I build along the "straight" or should I spine the tip as usual? If along the straight, should the guides go on the inside or the outside of the curve?
Thanks.

1477. Spiral Guide placement
I am about to start building some heavy halibut jigging rods and a couple of downrigger rods. These are quite a departure from the fly rods that are my mainstay. I intend to use the spiral guide placement for these. Since casting distance is not an issue here at all, do I need to have the reels to be used with these rods in hand before I place the butt guides? The blanks are Lamiglass BE6650b (I
