No I thank you for posting the ultimate reamer stuff that is exactly what I'm looking for. The expense did shock me but if they would sell maybe 1-2 rather then a full 4 reamer set I would be very interested. I have already contacted them so let's see. I love my flex coat reverse drill bits for 1/4 to 1/2 or 5/8 but it seems like if I go larger say to 3/4 or 7/8 they don't bore as straight. That

Thanks Roger! The wonder reamers look fantastic but wow they are expensive. I guess from a lifetime investment perspective not so bad.

Hey all. I am looking for long round rasps to increase the ID of cork and Eva foam grips. I have looked all over and the internet but no luck. I am ideally looking for a set of 4 tapered rasps pretty much the same sizes as the Batson dream reamer kit. Any ideas would help and if anyone knows a machine shop that would make them that would help to as no one by me that I've asked will do it.

It seems to me that overall the quality and utility of single edge razor blades has dropped significantly. It seems like a few cuts through thread and then their dull. Does anyone recommend a brand of razor blade that outlasts others in terms of keeping an edge longer?

Two questions have been bothering me for a while now. I was told when I started building rods that I should liquid fill the reel seats with epoxy because masking tape rots out and isn't a good way to build a rod. Then I spoke to another builder that says masking tape lasts forever and doesn't rot out. Does anyone have a diffinitive answer on this? Also I was told to stay away from 5, 10, 15 mi

I boil mine until back is fully saturated which you have to check because you boil it back side down so as not to burn your abalone. I apply it still still warm and go slowly. Then wrap with thread for a while to help it set. Oh someone already this above

Batson makes the best chuck upgrade on the planet. It's not fun to put in but once you do it's really fantastic. I would get the model that has the upgraded chuck. I found only positive benefits going from hand wrapping to power. The machine will have a speed control start slow and as you get more confidence boost the speed. Well worth the dough

I ended up getting the batson blank that was suggested but it was a traditional parabolic jigging blank. Now I ordered a CTS blank I'll let everyone know how that works out

Ok great. I'll be fishing for black seabass around montauk. Water is usually 65-100 feet so nothing real deep. I find that if they are feeding well they will take a jig almost as much as bait. I also find I get bigger fish on the jig. I think that this slow pitch technique could be deadly for these seabass as the jig will be in the lower third of water column, where the fish are, for a longer per

I would be using This for smaller inshore fish at most 8lbs.

Hi anyone have a suggestion for a 15-30 pound slow pitch blank that can handle up to 200grams jig? I looked at the black hole one was too light the other too heavy. Thanks all

Ok so I think I'm starting to get a clearer picture here. I normally use 16-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8. Would I benefit going to 16-10-10-8-8-8-8-8-8 or 16-12-10-8-8-8-8-8-8?

I am looking through the archives here and it seems that I keep running into 2 things 1) some people are saying a 0-60-120-180 method works better for casting 2) it seems some people are using larger size ring bumper guides than running guides I usually use a 16 stripper guide and all 8 including the bumper

I have gone over to wrapping all my saltwater rods using the simple spiral with the bumper guide. I don't really feel these rods are casting as well as the ones I had with conventional guide set up. Has anyone noticed this also or am I just crazy?

I have been building rods for a while and I recently got my first MHX. I needed a white blank and well they had one. I always stayed away from them thinking they make low end stuff. Well I am eating a lot of crow now. This blank is super sweet and just as nice as anything else. Rainshadow also make great stuff that's less expensive. Don't get caught up in names, jargon or hype.

I love the look of this texalium tubing but I have concerns about the durability of it going in and out of medal Rod holder. These are the Rod holders on party/head boats. I think this stuff is coated with aluminum so maybe it has some measure of resilience? Anybody know? Thank!!

Hi all, Just looking to see if anyone has put cork tape over EVA foam and how it worked out? I love cork tape but the handle is too thin. If I can put it over foam then it would save weight vs multiple layers of tape. Thanks!!

I use abalone a lot and the thin stuff is awesome. X2 what Bruno said works well for me. Heat gun is nonsense IMO
