Hmm . I use Prowrap and Fishhawk exclusively on my builds and I have never had that issue thus far. If the epoxy did not even absorb into the thread I would say you were contaminated in some fashion. Be it dirty hands from dinner or under arm deodorant or a shop mishap that no one is aware of. Something got there that did not belong and the epoxy just told you NO I am not bonding with it. That

Well, I built me a razor cutoff utensil, a shield for spraying finish, a holding wrack from cork for blanks the list is limitless on what you can use epoxy for LOL. I even repaired my Mothers prescription sunglasses with the goop. Very handy stuff indeed! I feel like Professor Flubber !

Thank you David for the compliment ! The marbling is the easy part of the application, much less tedious than doing the decal work. In the decal work there is no room for error and can be turned into a strip and redo if you do not follow your steps in the process to the letter. I guess that's part of why we call this a craft Yes? Have a good day today !

Hello David, Interesting you should ask this question! About 5 months ago I had my first customer who requested writing on there rod. My calligraphy art is not what it use to be from my high school days LOL. With that I wanted to go with decal and I did some research on finding a way to do my own decals from home on my many ink jet printers in the house (they sit and do mostly nothing and I pa

Tom I agree with that and I was just discussing that with one of my testers on the phone as I was reading this post LOL. I could have been allot worse if the $200 blank busted instead. With that said.....I was more content with the guide busting were it did for the most part. I told him he needed a betters storage area for those rods to insure this kinda thing will be in less frequency of happ

Well, In my practiced method of principals and science here, and with the use of any guide on a fishing rod. Moisture is a the one common battle we all face in the craft, it's a given that is were these tools are used most often in there elemental area. Most often than not, the neck base is the one place were water and moister commonly finds its way under the wrap and guide hence guide failure

Tom, If I am reading your post correctly....I think .....Your blank is black in color already correct? If so I have found in my marbling experience going with the exposed blank color as a base with your color scheme (especially black) can be very difficult. Black is an absorbing color in its self. I use a moderate tightly wrapped A thread color to for my base. This will help with the opaque co

Welcome! Jeff G. I would start be doing lots of searches on this site on the subjects that are of interest and read. There are many many advice, principals and science for you to chose from ! Begin with the Glossary! I did and it was very helpful! Then go form there ! Even if you are knowledgeable in the craft I still found words in there I didn't know! Then progress with each topic your interes

I never bother to ask....I guess the word no isn't in my vocabulary at times and I don't like to hear it even over a phone LOL! Its an obstacle word you understand no one likes to hear it LOL. I will definitely inquire on my next build which will be by own personal rod this time. One for m

Geoff Staples- You might consider a 3D over view of those particular guides on that pdf file you have posted on your site. Front view and even a side angle view of frame and ring. To me there is more ring on this design in depth that's what I see from the picture your presenting and gives me the persona of there being more frame to hold that ring in place. Please correct me if I am wrong here. Bu

I am just asking if anyone has tried there new micro guides or have had a head start in the use of there new line of micro guides. I am looking for constructive input on there use and there ease of application to a build. I did notice the foot on these guides are much different than the other brands out there. It looks enticing and I think they have something there for the builder in mind for con

Hello Russell, I have built a a good few rods using the ALPS Aluminum Trigger Real Seats AT16-B there kinda spendy but they look really nice and come in the standard sizes for blanks, Easy to mount and extremely tuff. Anglers Workshop carries these in stock but call ahead to see if they are on the shelf. I got some pics of these some were.... I will have to look ! Anyways there very simple and

Clarification I just wanted to say I took it in no fashion that these guides were defective or in some way not functioning from there intended use. I was inferring to the fact that I need to be aware of wear and tear on a general basis. Using common sense here folks! The guides on the rods I have built are just fine and are catching fish on this very day ! with happy costumers ! Good day build

Thomas, Whoa! really !!! All I have been able to find is the #4s from in gold and black rings those come from Batson special order I do believe at least from that particular maker. Jim Ising, I agree with that very much in definition, out of the builds I constructed and field tested my self . The over all transfer of action sensitivity (lack of a better term) while fighting the fish was enhanced. My customers response's were; its a completely different rod and they can feel the fish in the water as they are playing it out, that and precision casting in tight hog lines we

Hm, I read those posts as well, Roger in fact I may have posted in a few my self of those read. I did notice my self that others were in a direction of tolerances towards this practice of line contact to the blank using micro guides. To me there was no explanation of the build they were trying to use as an example of there explanation to the post being answered, they just answered the post mor

HEllo John, Marbling can be a great add to a rod in cosmetics ! Most people love the looks and marvel over the finish and looks. I have done many and there is many ways to make different effects as you have already seen from the videos. In my experience thus far a good base for your marbling to come out with desired effects of color is important. Think about your color scheme first and lay dow

Didier, Have you tried He is very prompt in his order and shipments in fact he has Micros you can not get from any other vendor. Specifically the Black frame with gold ring Micros. I have built three rods with these and they are very very nice ! He uses US mail to get me my orders which is much faster than UPS or Fed Ex. I use acid-rod.com for only a back up if anything but I allow a week to

Hm, Not trying to be funny at all! That is a prime example of a just a bad day of events Steven! I have them too ....I had a routine build on the bench simple tear down and rebuild and it was about $180 rod I picked up for 10 bucks and I was going to turn it for a a good penny more past $180 bucks! Got to a simple removal of some cork and believe it or not what I thought was not extreme pressure

If you watched the video on You tube! The fella who demonstrated this particular knot for bands recommended I believe not going over four wraps. I tried for practice with the A size threads going over that and got the effects your talking about. I don't go over 4 wraps with that particular type of knot just for those reasons. I use it extensively in my builds for ease of use and looks. Hm.....ano
