Roger: I was able to get a vaccum pump and vacuum jar at a yard sale, I mix the rod finish ( Flex -coat) for 2 minutes in a plastic cup, and put the cup in the vacuum jar for 3-4 minutes, the vacuum pump removes most of the bubbles from the flex-coat. I then pour the the finish on to a flat tinfoil surface, and with a straw I blow on the finish spreading it out on the foil. The finish is now al

Sid: I never tried ultrasonic, to burst air bubbles, i use a vacuum pump, and it works just find, my finishes never have any bubble issues and never have a stickey finish. Rich Kline CR

Bill: Looked them up on internet, looks like they produce inexpensive off-shore rods, the rod sells for about $59.00. Doing the repair as a favor for my neighbor. The reel seat had friction tape as a bushing, will repair with arbors, and use a Pac-bay gimbal. Rich

Solid aluminum gimbal, while repairing a EATMEY Off -Shore trolling rod, with a loose reel seat. The gimbal had to be cut-off, it was a solid aluminum gimbal with a .094 ID to fit the blank. Never saw a gimbal like that in all my repairs, Does any one know where to get one? Rich Kline CR

I agree with Jim , I have been using NCP thread for years the only difference I notice its a looks a little dull when epoxy is applied. Rich Kline Custom Rod
