Maybe the thread is stretchy? I have used Madeira Polyneon on a couple of rods, havent' had a problem but I did notice when I did a pull test on an individual guide that the thread did stretch. I dunno?

Well, I jut went and did it for about 90 of my pics on there, and it only took me 20 minutes. I guess no need for a directory.

Too bad there is no directory we could hilight the pictures in one shot and Save them in at once, rather than click each one individually. .

If it's similar to teh Pizm Holographics, then I would say that will look even better. Just imo don't overdo teh amount of the Holo's on the rod, or it will overdo it and make the rod look - again, imo - like a Pimp rod, lol.
teh = the. Sorry.
I'm about to get some Sulky Metallics, but after I buy Fishhawk/YLI & Superior. That metallic cannot be used for guide wraps, but is really quali

What kind of rod & what guides? The stripper on the LC's is moutned backwards because of the way teh 2 legs are shaped. AS previously stated. They are shaped like this to prevent line from wrapping around the guide on a cast, and subsuquently breaking off. I don't know how possible that is with braid, but I think when teh line wraps around the tip, you can put a slight amount of slack in teh

Is Silver Electra the Holographic stuff? I'm really not all that familiar with Gudebrod threads outside of Nylon.

IT happens. On wons upon tons of rods. Guide feet do not flex the same as the blank, the heavier the guide, the less they flex. I have somewhat tamed this problem, although it still happens. I use lighter guide, grind more off of them, use more tension on teh wrapping thread, and switched epoxies - Aftcote is very flexible, and I guess Glass Coat is too because the rods I've built with these 2 br

Plum All Star IGSP blank. Too bad I do not have a picture of the guide wraps - silver TRim on both ends of single foots, wit Garnet no CP, no unerwrap. It's really a nice color combo.
Teh reel seat is so far away fro teh guide wraps, even if you used aGold reel seat, I doubt 3/4 of the people would notice it doesn't match.

Mike, my wife bought 3 packages of Ribs already (not Baby Back). She make her own BBQ sauce & really hooks them up as you'll see. Come with a list of questions, and a few fishing stories.
Buzz, thanks. I'm gonna be contacting you & Mark c. to see how things are going for the clubs you guys are a part of. These types of small personal types of classes/gatherings are the wave of teh fut

3 guys showed up for the first NERDs NY Thread Art class, coming as far as 3 hours in the sleet & rain to get a hands on Demo on doing a butt wrap. Peter, Mark & Seane - thanks for showing up, I hope you guys picked up more than a few tips (I know a couple of spools of thread & epoxy were picked up and walked out of my shop, again - lol) Seane, the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake with Oreo

Does the line touch the rod, or the grip? If not, does it really matter how close it comes?
Stand up rods - I thought this referred to a Tuna rod. All the rods I build with the above specs use a 20 stripper and I never have a proble,. WHat blank & reel are you using?

Is it that noticeable when the epoxy is applied? I used to worry about having a nice neat straight seam where the threads cross over, and I used to wrap 1 thread at a time. Now that I understand how to wrap mutiple threads at one time, I do not even worry abotu teh jagged threads, as long as teh colors line up you really cannot tell, unless you post a close up pic of the wrap on teh internet, lol

For me Gudebrod size A Nylon is 3.8, Madeira Polyneon is 4.1.
What are you using this calculation for? This is the most important calc for me when I'm designing and planning a wrap.

Crossover points not lined up - Do you mean they are jagged? Are the main patterns of the wrap straight? Are you wrapping bands of thread?
/\/\/\/\/ - do you mean like this?

7008. Fuji Ferruled Seat
THere's only one topic in the Archives which deals with this particular seat, and there's probably enough info for me to get by, but I'll ask anyhow.
I'm contemplating making an 8-8 1/2' travel rod for bottomfishing, possibly a GUSA 85 Monster Mag, or maybe extending a GUSA SW70H. Obviously, I have to either cut the blank to glue this on, or find a piece to make the extension on teh shorter ro

I use A for everything, but I don't do Diamonds or Chevrons. It probably wouldn't matter much with thos patterns, ut when you start getting into splitting & stars & such - D doesn't give you the detail you "need" for a wrap like this.

Ray, I sent Wylie an e-mail today, lol.
I'm thinking about ordering a bunch of Kencor's, just so I could pull on them and see what I like myself. I did the same thing last year with GUSA, that worked out really well.

Are other guys using a pick to pack threads in butt wraps? THere is a much better tool for this makde out of a 1/8" & 1/4" Aluminum rod with a triangular shape on one end.

Some of the tubing they sell for putting on hooks is NOT what you want to use, as it will split. The good stuff is tan/yellowish and very flexible. I used to buy it in 3 different thicknessess & that worked for everything from 4 tip fly rods to Tuna & surf rods. No need tfor pliers or anythign like that, just slide them on teh blank & roll them into place.

I'm sure there are a ton of grips installed this way, but I'm sure tehre are quite a few which end up loose after some time, or it the fit is't tight.

It was in the process of being Upgraded. I know NOBODY did any work last week, but I'm sure they'll get to it this coming week when the Boss's are back at work & care about stuff getting done, lol. I cut foam up all week at "work" - I'm not bashing anyone.
