6961. Re: EVA vs. Cork
Larry - I cannot answer since I don't fish where I need to feel the bite through the grip - I watch the tip, feel the line, or watch where the line enters the water. Or the rod straight gets ripped out of my hands on the bite, lol.
I would guess the harder the material, the more "sensitive - but there is no way to measure sensitivity so everyone has their own opinion. I have no opinion on

Bill, I hate to say it - but you have poor taste. She is far from pretty. I hope there was apost I missed, cause the chick that's up there now looks a little like a man. lol.

6963. Re: EVA vs. Cork
I would think either would work just fine. Cork's advantage is that it is hard, light & feels nice in your hand. EVA is more durable, a little heavier, and is a little "softer" - you can squeeze it.
As much as I like Cork, unless you're willing to spend the money on high quality rings (and a lot of money at that) - it ends up not looking very good right off the bat. Poor quality

6964. Re: Reel seat sizing
I prefer to use the smallest reel seat possible, Most of my fishing I don't hold the reel seat, rather the foregrip. After reading the next post - almost 95% of the fishing I do is conventional, not spinning rods.

NERDs chime in, what's that about? lol.
Actually, I find myself taking less and less time as I realize nobody notices 99% of the things that are "wrong". And even that 1% doesnt' notice everything.
The additinal 7 hours you spend is you sitting there scratchign your head trying to figure out how many different colors you can use Marbelizing.

Does anyone know if Summer Moon is the Retail Outlet for Merrick Tackle?

I'm looking foward to Saturday as well, but trying to make sure I've got someone to @#$%& with on Thursday. I'm going to book the flight tonight, arriving Thursday morning, leaving Sunday evening. I wonder if the airlines will lose my Bazooka tube this time, or just throw it and bend teh tips on my rods again - simply amazing, BOTH of these things happened to me the last time I flew.

It looks like I might swing down there, but I can't see only being there for Sat & Sun. I'd love to get down there on Thursday & have a full day + a 1/2 of "informal", real hands on, crowdless, 1-on-1 conversations with other builders. I know there is no area set up for this, but I don't think it matters, small groups fit just fine in a hotel room.
I'd hate to plan to be ther

he smallest United I pulled on was the UR663 (also the 664, 665, 703, 704, 705), comparing it to the same GUSA's in DHX. If you want teh Fast action in a smaller tip, I would guess the 702DHX is what you want. Although, the B/C series is sort of similar to the United's (I had the 66H & XH, as well as the 70H & XH) - just the blank was thicker for teh same rated DHX.
That make sense?

The best pen I've found to mark points is the Pentel.
Nothing like seeing someone do it - Tom, do you live in New Jersey?

Steve - what blanks are you looking at spcifically? THere is a noticeable difference between the United's & GUSA in the lighter models. The United's are softer with a more Moderate bend, whereas the GUSA's are a bit stiffer & faster. With the heavier rods I cannot tell the difference..80 Mega, 80 Monster.
Let me know wat you're looking for, I have a few GUSA's I'm trying to sell, and I

Dave - thanks.
Ron, I needed the Spacings, not the entire length of the wrap. I do appreciate you help though, thank you.
Regarding the write-ups - If I was asked to submit them for review in Rodmaker, I would do so. I hope you can use it to assist you in your teaching.

6984. Visualwrap Spacing Help
I've got 2 rods I want to wrap tomorrow but I do not have VW installed on my computers. All I need is for someone to get me the spacings for teh following 2 rods and post it for me. Yes, I can use the "old" way and figure it out, but it's just so easy to do with VW.
Rod #1 - GUSA 664DHX extended to 6'10
Butt diameter: 11
Tip diameter: 10
Length 175-200mm (this shoould be 4 or 5 re

Jim - I should've went one step further. 20-50# rods for me = Calstar L-H where I'm using MN frames. Unless the LSBGk's are much lighter frame-wise than the LDBSG's (these are the same as the BLBLG's no?), I would stick with MN10's for the running guides. For me these guides are better for the heavier rods 60-80# tht you & Dave wrapped, not teh lighter stuff I'm referring to.
In either cas

6986. Re: FUJI REEL SEATS
SAme as a regular seat, I guess. I never weighed them on a scale, but I do't notice ay difference whatsoever when they're in my hand.

The only rods I personaly would not consider use single foot guides on is the "middle" of the road boat rod blanks. 20-50# blanks which might see some abuse - there aren't single footers made which will fit this type of fishing. Regular L or UN single foots are too light, the LV single foots I personaly do not like, and the LD's are too heavy for these rods.

6988. Re: FUJI REEL SEATS
Be careful with these, as I bouht the Deluze TRigger model from MErrrick a couple of years ago. It came with a special nut that was way too big, and when fully opened it did not allow ANY reel to fit in teh seat. Fuji sold another piece to this seat, basically an aluminum spacer which I had to get from Japan.
They are SWEET though, just make sure you get the ones with teh right locking nut. I

On heavier rods, why bother with CP, just use a Silver underwrap with Nylon & let it "bleed"- the color will stay exactly the same as on teh spool.

Mike - We've got some work to do before the next class(es). It's way too long and boring to sit tehre and wrap the entire wrap from scratch. LAy down 3 or 4 passes (I have teh exact time it took me), pack. HAve another rod 1/2 completed with a wrap - maybe 1 pass away from finishing up teh St. J's Cross (or whatever pattern you decide t wrap), close that & lay down a couple more passes. Then
