Where can you buy Threadmaster Finish?

Thanks, Cliff! I'm going to check out those threads as soon as I get caught up with my work. I looked at that Morton graph and understand the theory behind it. It seems like a lot of money to pay for the graph itself. On the other hand the designer's expertise and experience should be compensated.

Hi All! I went home and looked at the guide and I saw I really didn't grind too much off before realizing my mistake. I used a ceramic nail file, I buy them at the drug store to use as hook files, and was able to file enough off to make the foot lay flat on the blank. I then contoured the top accordingly. Thanks for the help and thank God for this site. I wish I could meet you all at the Rod Buil

Yep. I looked at that rod and thought, "How can this thing throw a decent line." The system works and it was my first attempt. Thanks

You got that right. Everything was moving along so well, too! I'm not afraid to admit a mistake. I was hoping for an alternative other than getting a new guide. I'll end up paying $5 shipping for it. Gees!

I absent mindedly ground the bottom side of a double-foot stripping guide. I did it to 1 of the 2 feet. The other is ground just fine. Can I salvage the guide or should I just buy a new one?

I used the Concept Guide Method on my nephew's spinning rod and it worked great. My buddy and I took it outside to cast for the first time. He looked at all the guides and was skeptical about how well it would cast. I have to admit I questioned it a bit myself. Even with about 10-pound test line
it cast very easy with a flick of the wrist.
I have a theoretical question:
If you put guides on

Do I measure the reel seat for the size of the arbors I want to buy?

103. Re: arbors
Gees! I must be losing my mind. I have that issue of RodMaker Magazine. Does the size of the arbor match the size of the wood reel seat? How should you measure for the arbor? Should they fit snug or a bit lose so glue will flow between the reel seat and arbor. Can you ream them out by hand?

104. arbors
Sorry if this question is weak, but can graphite and poly arbors be used to anchor a fly rod reel seat?
Forum: rodboard 18 years ago

I should have thought of that first. I figure I'd cut to the chase and ask the professionals. Thanks! I'll peruse.

Has anyone used those graphite arbors to anchor reel seats? Will masking tape do the job as far as longevity goes? I read an article that suggested that masking tape arbors don't last. Please enlighten me. Remember, I'm just completing my 4th rod so I haven't much experience. Thanks

Those dremel stands work great. I bought one off @#$%& for about $20 plus shipping before Christmas. Also, I'm really happy with my dremel tool. It's slick and quick.

I will finish my most recent attempt with Flex Coat Lite. Does anyone recommend an initial primer coat? I noticed on their site they mentioned a primer coat thinned with acetone. Should I thin it or just mix and use as is? I plan on using 2 coats.

Hi Bill! I guess what I meant was is it okay structurally to place thread wraps under the winding check. Is the winding check only a decoration or does it serve some kind of function?

111. hand turning rods
I've read many discussions on hand-turning rods as opposed to using a rod dryer, but I haven't read a reason as to why many feel hand-turning provides a better finish. Why is the result better? Does it look better? Dry more evenly? I've hand turned the few I've built but would like to use a small RPM motor only because of laziness.

112. thread under check
Is it better to put thread wraps underneath the winding check on fly and spinning rods? I've only built 5 rods and I've glued all of the them to the top of the foregrip.
Thanks,

115. Feather Inlay steps
Hi All! I would appreciate any input ASAP as I would like to practice this tonight.
Can you place feather inlays on metallic thread?
Do I first lay a thread base and coat it twice with to 50% solutions of CP and let it dry. I have U-40 color lock 2. Should I wait 24 hrs.?
Do I then lay the feather down and cover with a full strength solution of CP and let it dry for 24 hrs?
Is the fin

I have some old fly rod blanks that have a glossy finish on them. Could I use them for practicing feather inlays or does the finish have to be matte.

120. Concept Guide System
Hi Tom Kirkman And All!
I used the Concept Guide Method to place guides on a 6', 6", 2-piece spinning rod. With a reel attached I marked my intersect guide (size 8) at 27 inches. From there, keeping the guide distance 5 inches or less, it took me 5 more #8 guides to get to the tip top. With stripping guides of 25, 16 & 10, the total number of guides is 10. I querried a buddy and he said
