I absent mindedly ground the bottom side of a double-foot stripping guide. I did it to 1 of the 2 feet. The other is ground just fine. Can I salvage the guide or should I just buy a new one?

Simply replace them.

You got that right. Everything was moving along so well, too! I'm not afraid to admit a mistake. I was hoping for an alternative other than getting a new guide. I'll end up paying $5 shipping for it. Gees!

If you didn't completely shape it as per a normal grinding job, you might be able to get it still. I guess it depends on how much you ground on it, Bruce.

try filing the bottom of the foot with a chainsaw file until it sits flush with the blank. as long as there is enough foot left it should work. let us know how you make out, good luck.

Hi All! I went home and looked at the guide and I saw I really didn't grind too much off before realizing my mistake. I used a ceramic nail file, I buy them at the drug store to use as hook files, and was able to file enough off to make the foot lay flat on the blank. I then contoured the top accordingly. Thanks for the help and thank God for this site. I wish I could meet you all at the Rod Builder's Show. I can't swing it this year, but I'm going to try for 2007.
