Would removal of the 2 coats of flex coat slow cure from a St. Croix legend tournament rod blank possibly make a 7.5 tip into a 7 ???

This blanks is the " Big Nasty " a 9' heavy powered muskie rod , I am hoping that if I slice the tip top tube , I can open it up just enough to fit , then thread wrap it closed , the tip will have considerable pressure on it as the rod will be used for throwing big swimbaits up to 11 ounces .

I want to know if it's feasible to either sand down a blank tip that is a 7.5 , to make it fit a size 7 tip top guide. Or open up the tip top guide to make it work without sanding down the blanks tip .thanks

thanks for the comments , what also caught my eye with these guides is that they look a lot more beefier than say ,Fuji LSG's . I want a micro guide that won't have the leg collapse , and a bigger point is that they have size 3 guides !! well , thanks again !

Those ducked rod blanks are cheap generic Chinese blanks , if your thinking off building a rod off of one of them , there are a lot better choices out there !!

I kind of want to stay around a 6 tiptop , as for knots , I just use a main line (25&30# Izorline xxx copolmer mono ) so there will be no knots . if I have to I will compromise with a size 7 ringed tiptop .

So if I went with a size 6 ring , and seeing as nobody makes a 6 ring tip top with nothing over a size 7 tube , will I be able to still make it work by splitting the tube and making it work on a size 9 blank tip ??

just concerned that a wrapped single foot guide would not be that durable on such a heavy duty rod that is gonna be throwing BIG swim baits ( 7 - 17 oz. baits !!)

you know i was just using the darn "search" button and was seeing the concern for heavy line going through micro guide tip tops , sounds like i would have a problem with 20# - 30# mono passing through a size 4 ring tip top !!!!! LOL , =) , so would a size 6 ring be a lot better , or should i say work better !!?? well i guess i can live with a size 6 tip top but then i would still have t

want to know if you could make a size 7 tiptop be made (by splitting the tube ) to fit a blank with a size 9 tip ???? i know , i know , get a proper size tip top , right ?? , well i don't want a huge ring top ( size 8 or bigger ) because i am gonna be using micro guides ( 5's on the transition , 4 all the way to the tip ) so yeah , just wanted to know if you guys have tried doing this , i know it

am planning on a swimbait rod with micro guides and the rod will be spiral wrapped . i am gonna use 25 lb. copolymer line , no braid , and some times 30 lb. copolymer line . i will not have any connections knots , what guide size would be good , would a size 4mm micro do good with this line ???

is it possible to get EVA similar in texture and feel of hypalon ?? i want it to be similar to the grip material(hypalon) that is used on Dobyn's rods . as far as weight , i am using only a little bit ( a 2.5" rear grip and a tappered butt cap) so weight is not really an issue .
