I am building a number of rods. One for me and the rest for freinds.
I know what reel I will be using but, I don't know what reel they will be using. They don't know either.
I am using the 27x reduction for mine.
What would you advise for there rods?

I used to use Gudbrod metallic and it seemed to trim cleaner and easier.

Making a tapered reamer is not a tapered mandrel. My full- time job is in the machining business and making a tapered mandrel is not an easy task. I spoke to a couple of shops and they were not interested. They were not even sure about doing it without stepping them. I would be surprised if St. Croix made their own mandrels for the rods. I have been there many times and never saw that kind of equ

95. Tapered mandrels
Does anybody know where I can get tapered mandrels for foaming poured foam handles?
Here is the tricky part. I am making ice ice fishing rods. The tapers are approximately .15"-.125".
Or will I have to use a rod to get what I need?
Can I use a rod for my mandrel?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Next part will be making the molds

I had used the 9000 for year glx and imx. Iam looking at building the same thing for Great Lakes smallies. The water is ultra clear and need to get the bait away from the boat. I am looking at either the 5S76MF-G or the 3S69MLXF in St. Croix and using a Manley adjust-a-but to extend.
