Adam, Sliding rings have a tendency to loosen on their own, I have yet to find any {real Quality rings} that hold, Just my experience, Have you given any thoughts to using cloth hockey tape? You will still be able to move your reel wherever you want and be secure and Not have to worry about your reel loosening -up, That's what I use on my tennessee grips. It sure beats having to screw around tig

I jig big rivers! Detroit river and St, Clair river systems in Mi, river current speed is 2-3 mph, My favorite walleye jig rod is built on the rainshadow RX8- 822.5 Extra fast, I think it was meant for drop-shotting? I love It! It just works for Me. I have 2 and yes I cut 5" off the butt end. For me it's the perfect rod, But I fish jigs 1/4 ounce and up to 1/2 ounce depending on the dept

Hello Bill, First Do you have the means to sharpen high speed steel? A good slow 8" grinder with the proper wheels is a must or you will burn the edge, You will also need a jig to hold your angles, Do Lots of reading on this subject. You may want to think about tools with replaceable carbide inserts, They are pricey however they last a long long time, As you can rotate the cutter to a new

Sorry I should have been more clear, No Saltwater. These would be personal rods, Not charter rods, For michigan, Big lake, and inland lake, and Drowned river mouths on the west side of the state, Walleye trolling with smaller 20 size line counter reels, Pulling minnow-crank baits and crawler harnesses . If muskie trolling guys are using them I would think they would be fine, I suggested a carbo

I have a fellow interested in having 2 trolling rods built and he would like Winn grips on them. Any clue as to how they would hold up in Rod Holders 90% of the time in that application? Or would EVA be a better choice? Thanks Jay

Thanks for the update Don, Med size spools would be fine for me, I only use nylon, No perma-color or NCP for me, Just my preference, I will need to order within the few months or so for sure, My old Gudebrod stock is getting low and I need to place a good size order, Looks like you have a nice selection of colors. I will keep my eye open on your site. Thanks very much! Jay

Matt are you wrapping your rods on the same floor level as your Kitchen? I had that problem years ago when I first started, one rod would come out great, The next would have a terrible finnish problem, I was doing things all the same on each one, As I should be by the book as far as cleanliness goes, And doing all the above mentioned and still had problems. It took some time to piece the puzzle

Anyway, It looks like U of M actually has 2 sets of school colors. number # 1 would be the Official school colors, And # 2 would be the Athletic colors, Never new That! Here is a small bit to read. . First I don't use any NCP thread at all, I just don't care for the painted on look, Just my preference, I prefer IF needed, To airbrush the blank a lighter color under the wrap to make my colors POP if needed. And I just use standard thread with or without CP. My old U of M go to was the Rice branded thread, I believe it was the closest to maze you could get! It was #104 Gold, As it's a bit br

First that is awfully white for mammoth ivory so I question that?? But what do I know I'v only seen pictures of it. But Don't overlook cow, beef, lamb, bones, femurs-etc. Get them at a real butcher shop that breaks down the whole animal and pick your sizes that are close to your project size just a bit bigger then you need so you can turn them down, Give them to your dog he will clean them up f
