What is the secret to this stuff? I first tried using a foam brush and ti didnt spread good. The finish was lumby in a way it had a orange peel texture. So I tried a brush and it still is spreading good at all. It's as if it's drying in seconds and shrinking back as it dries. I have it spinning on a motor so it will be even. I'm lost I have sanded it smooth over and over to go back to the same re

I will always scuff the blank. I've seen to many times were the finish started to bubble and i don't want my seat to be holding on to a finish. It only takes a second to sand down the area under the real seat so why cheat it it will only help. On guides I don't becouse the thread is what holds the guides on not the epoxy.

To tell you the truth I got away from braided years ago. I throw floro mostly 17-20#. I havent't found were braided is 100% necessary even in the thick grass mats. Braides are to visible under water even in stainded water. If you get the right floro thats tough as nails and is invisible under water you can't go wrong.

Mathew by putting it on that tight then casting the braid that is still on the spool after the cast stays tight. That is were it starts digging at not with the line thats in the water.
Marty like Jim said a small diameter line is alot harder to control with a baitcaster. I use 65# or better with a 20-25# floro leader about 5' long. this works great and I never have any problems.

I just finished reading the post by Capt Neil and I have to say thanks to all the guy's here that make this site awesome. I'm a newbie here I have built 5 rods nothing that campares to the great work I see in the pictures. I haven't got into a quarter of what's out there in the art of rod buiding. If it wasn't for the you posting your knowledge and love for this craft I wouldn't even be building.

I'm building a LSU rod for my cousin and I just finished it when I noticed where I wrapped over my cross threads some of the loose threads on the cross wrap are sticking threw the over wrap. I already put the finish on it and the loose threads are sticking out. How do I go about fixing this without undoing the wrap?

I had a talk with an genttlemen that told me seat placement was just as important a guide placement. He had told me that a seat to far up the rod is like grabbing the rod to lift a fish in the baot wich could result in a broken rod. Could this be possible?

It is the cfc 80mh. What i mean by medium lite and medium heavy is that I shouldn't be able to take the tip and touch the butt. Every medium heavy rod I ever owned never was like that. This blank that I origanaly ordered was graphite atleast thats what catogory it was in. I'm fairly new so it's just fustrating when you wait over a month for a blank and its not even close. Even if the blank is lit

83. wrong blank
I had ordered a sc2 mh fast a while back and when I received it it seemed real lite like a medium. I just figured its the way this rod was so I built it anyway. Well about 4 weeks ago I ordered a lamiglas mh and it was on back order for 2 weeks. I just recieved the blank and im ticked It is not what I ordered at all. It has the right tags on it but it's not the right rod by far. There is no way t

I'm still very new at this but when I order a blank I first check out the lure and line along with the action. Then I look at the butt size so I don't order a bulky blank. I try to look at all the catogories before I make my selection.

I just started about a month ago and I bought the kit ur talking about. It was a great investment I have built 5 rods and have had no problems. I just wish I had more dryers sometimes. It don't come with everything you need but it will get you started. The things I had to buy after the kit was: caliper, thread assortment. more mixing cups, brush's, a lamp, china markers, and a place to build them
