So far i have had very good luck with st. croix blanks. So i would like to stay with them. This is the only problem i have had with st. croix's lineup.

A little off topic but can you take syringes used in flex coat and reuse them in another brand like pac bay?

What about molding clear silicone for a handle, just an idea never tried it. Not sure how clear it will be either.

I purchased Custom Rod Thread Art by Dale Clemens a couple weeks ago. I just wanted to say that this is an excellent book for anyone wanting to do cross wraps. Its good for beginners and with 107 patterns i would say even an experienced rod builder would benifit from it. It also has a section for weaving but i haven't got that far yet. So all in all, I just wanted to say this is a great book

Yeah i was looking at the polyester thread. You can get Coats for about 1.00 a spool on the biggest @#$%& site, so thats a lot cheaper that madeira. Thanks for the info, i think I'm going to buy some.

76. scribing lines
I see some of you guys scribe lines in the finish on rods for layouts. I'm just wondering if they disappear when you apply finish? I was thinking about trying this method but haven't had the guts to scratch up the finish on a blank.

I was also wondering how you guys were doing the micro guide setups. Any info on spinning and casting would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jason

Sometimes its easier if i flip the rod over so the guides are on the bottom, the see if they are all even on both sides of the blank.

Before the legend elites were brown they were dark green. So it should be an excellent blank. Its st. croix's top of the line, its just a little bit older.

81. shaping eva
I just installed my first eva grip. The problem is the eva is about an 1/8 in. bigger than the reel seat. So im wondering what is the best way to get it down to the size of the seat? I was thinking about sanding it but i think that is going to take a long time.

now when you guys install them, do you buy them a size small and then ream them to fit?

I was just wondering how you guys were installing the acs reel seat and if rodbond works good or if a liquid glue would be better on the acs?

I was thinking about building a musky rod with the Loomis obsidian blanks. I've never had the graphite blank with the fiberglass tip, what do you guys think of them?

I once removed some reel seats off of st. croix rods. Their glue wouldn't melt in boiling water, but they use the flexcoat type arbors and that fell apart. So if you used them it will come apart, but takes a lot of force.
