Being that I mostly build Surf rods I use a Lot of Cork Tape and Shrink wrap, easy to maimtain and replace if need be.

Almost all the Surfrods I build are wrapped with Cork Tape and Covered with Shrink wrap, You can get 1/16" and 1/8" Cork tape and add a Shrink wrap Covering. Cork tape can be Double wrapped if you need more thickness (going in Alternate Directions when wrapping. You can wrap it that way for the butt section and add a Cork or EVA fore grip, or NO foregrip at all just close off the Ree

A fellow asked me to Build him a Surf Rod 10-11 ft rated around 5 OZ for Striper fishing here in NJ. Well got looking around and found a PVC tube containing two Batson Rainshadow SU1267-F 10' 6 ' Rated to 6 OZ. Problem is i Cannot find the Pricing info on the Blank! They no longer make Them and I do not have a Catalog That carries the info. Any help would Be greatly Appreciated

Been using large bobbins since "91" when I first started,built my own rod lathe out of Alum. but could never get a carrage to work. Now I have a Clemens and my thread Carage is in a Drawer. Still use bobbins

I made and use this, bolt is 2 1/2 or 3 inches Reel base plate is Drilled and tapped to match bolt thread and locked with epoxy and nut makes it easy to align guides to match seat

I use Double Foot Guides, Mostly Fuji "K" Guides. The are light and Strong to Stand up to the Abuse of fishing the Surf. I do not think there is a Style of fishing that put more abuse on a rod then surf fishing SAND,WAVES ,ROCKS, Fishing on jetties. You can start out with a Double and go to singles if you like. Most of the Surfrods i build are used for throwing Bait here in Sout
