I know this is kinda out of the ordinary>> but i need help finding a Rod or a blank for a good friend who is in a pinch. he broke his father in laws rod while on a fishing trip and needs a replacement badly. Jon, I have seen a glow in the dark guide a while back, i believe it was in the Shock ring portion of the guide. As far as I know none were ever mass produced. I remember when I was young my father put reflector tape in between the guides on Ulua Rods that we fished at night. Kevin, I have also read your article, very nice job. I got a sheet of the Aque Blue Maui laminate and I am soaking it for 3 days in distilled white wine vinegar. I just started last night so I am only 12 hrs into it. I am building one of the new (Batson /Rainshadow) RCTB56XXH blanks that I cut from the butt and added an ALPS Centra lock aluminum butt. Bill, Sorry for the late response. Those are Batson SS316 Guides on those rods ( XBVSLG). Cabelas contracted us to use them on that series and they are a special order guide. It could be replaced with a BVSLG guide and you would not be able to tell the differece unless you did a substrate test on the metal. Please contact me and I would be happy to send you one.
