Hi Calvin, If you haven’t made up your mind already, I would say give the MicroWave line Control System a try. We’ve sold over 15,000 sets to custom rod builders alone which tells me that performance outweighs some opinions of “cheesy looks”. We encounter a lot of skeptics, in fact I would say that most builders are skeptics right off the bat and some won’t even try them for whatever reaso

Hi All, Unbelievable news from Beijing China at the 2014 China Fish Exposition. This Asian venue is an international fishing tackle trade show serving to connect the world’s fishing tackle manufacturing base with the world’s leading tackle brands. The incredible news is that the American Tackle Company has again been recognized by the international tackle community for the MicroWave Line C

Hi Peter, As mentioned, our standard Artus Ring Lock micro guides are plenty reliable. Being the first true “micro” guide developed specifically for this niche and not a byproduct from other markets. So far they have been affixed to well over 300K rods and the numbers are quickly growing. Regarding the Artus HD’s, these guides are without a doubt the most durable “micro” guide I have ever e

Hi Cheng, Ron is correct, I would use the smaller set for this rod. A fly blank is typically lighter (smaller) than heavier longer spinning rods that might be matched with larger guides. If your reel is large than you could start with the suggested placement for distance from the reel spool and move it further up the rod until it casts best without line slapping the blank. This set was tes

Jim, I apologize about your name by the way. You may not believe this but I was not referencing your company in that statement. We do have other competitors and I have no idea what all are saying about the MWG’s. In fact I haven’t given it much thought until our exchange. But I could imagine that they might say they don't work. After all, we all offer guides that can make favorable layouts

Mr. Isling wrote: "The idea that this could be a bad thing is evidence of exactly what Am Tak hopes to do with MWG." I have no idea what you are saying here. I am not saying that piecing together a good guide sequence is a bad thing. That would be like saying not to buy 90% of our guide offerings?? We are only trying to promote our latest complete system, the MicroWave Line Control

Hi Phil, Line control is a benefit on any and all rods that cast. The MicroWave system is based on effective line control. Might even have benefits for trolling rods etc. but the focus has been on rods that cast. There are absolutely no disadvantages to using these guide unless one of our competitors tells you that they don’t work. As if the lure falls at your feet when casting?? In all s

Col, Fuji has dominated the market and it hasn’t put companies out of business, it has only stiffened the competition. Whether the MWG’s dominate anything or not, they certainly have already made an impact felt around the world. Initially nobody thought these guides would go anywhere and obviously they are moving along. In fact nobody ever thought a guide set would garner such positive attent

To any interested, Mr. Isling has provided me with the "white paper" so thank you to him. Obviously from my point of view I see vast holes in the arguments and issues with the comparisons. I do take note that it was stated as not "scientific" and can only take it as opinion. I encourage all to take the "Challenge" and decide for themselves. The best way is to h

Hi all, I love this thread for many reasons and some good points were brought up. I gave it a quick read which gave me a few things to comment on even though I could probably go on and on. I apologize for it being so long. 1. I’d like to point out that AT is totally devoted to custom builders. Looking at our product range the majority of it is specifically geared toward custom building. W

Hi Mick, The system is designed to be as simple as possible but I understand everyone has their own idea of simple. To me, a collection AT #5’s are perfect…. I cannot say specifically that heavier braid is more susceptible. Conditions, baits, casting styles etc. etc. are only some of the variables that can effect results of a cast. For me, I found that smaller strippers, light baits &am

Hi Steve, We actually planned a campaign for the Casting Edition release with photos/video etc. etc. but to be honest it was not completed in time and we are already in development with additional MWG options. Most likely we will add the casting promotion to our web site along with other versions but included in the overall MicroWave family. Plus it didn’t make much sense to switch p

No worries Jim, I am not old enough to remember the Model T so I wouldn’t know the dates, especially since they aren’t driven anymore. The Cone Of Flight or some variation of it, is still widely used around the world and an accepted theory. Thank you for the congrats. Darrin

Regarding the "MicroWave Casting Edition" guides: Effectively capturing and controlling fishing line during a cast is key to performance in spinning rod, casting rod or even fly rod applications. Guides themselves point to evidence of this by their varying quantities, sizing and even design style. As Doug Hannon explained to me, oscillation doesn’t always represent the round mo

Hi guys, Bill regarding the spiral wrap rods, they will work great for this application, just as Tom mentioned. I guess my questions are; why wouldn’t you use the MWG casting guides? What advantages to you receive by not using them? What does other guide configurations offer that the MWG’s do not? Also I started a new thread above regarding the Casting Edition MicroWave guides.

Hi Jim, If you are going to be precise, the Y frame came along in 1992 per the Fuji chart of their self-proclaimed innovation history. I read it on the on the back of Angling International. It’s the August edition with the current “voted” Innovation of the Year (MicroWave Guides) award on the cover. Which make the Y frames roughly 21 years old but you should know this working for Anglerâ

I think we may be talking about two different things when referencing wind knots. The first is where I believe the “wind knots” that many refer to may actually stem from loose line loops on a reel either from a loop or line twist. When casted, they come off the spool in a mess that generally stops at the stripper guide in a knot. Doug Hannon was familiar with tackling this issue with his r

Thank you Bill & Bob, Yes, we at American Tackle feel it is entirely appropriate that rod components be included as stand-alone products within the angling world. It’s time that parts are recognized for what they can provide both fishing rods and anglers. The MicroWave Line Control System speaks for itself and fits that bill perfectly so we are pleased with the industry-wide acknowledge

Hi, Looks like fun catching those Zander! That company, CWC/Strike Pro is debuting new BFT rods with MicroWave guides specifically for that type of fishing with both casting and spinning MWG versions. They will often use an 8’ rod rated 10-40 grams for deep jigging and catching zander, sea trout, perch, summer pike throughout Europe. Best Regards, Darrin Heim American Tackle Comp

Hello, I apologize for not answering sooner. Jim is correct with the directions for placement. The important thing to note is where he mentioned, “Using the guide spacing charts, measuring from the tip top, will result in incorrect spacing for the stripper unless the butt length and reel seat placement are also the same”. He is refering to the rear handle dimensions we mention in the d

We’ve spent an incredible amount of time developing the MicroWave guide system. We did this to make sure we went to market with something that absolutely delivers benefits. The reason we offer this product in an exact design, a
