Hi,
I received an answer from K Sun. At present we MAC users can not have two different fonts and styles on the same label. They are working at updating the soft ware and they will let me know when it is available. Stay tuned in and have patience.

Hi,
Spoke with a rep from K Sun today. It turns out the the soft ware for the MAC system is lacking and being updated. The rep said having two lines with different heights is possible. She will get back to me with the instructions.

Hi,
Years ago Diawa made an Eliminator Series of rods. One was perfect for drifting for fluke around Long Island, NY. If money was a customer issue I would send them to this tackle shop with the model #. So I called Diawa and asked who made the blank and what model#. The person said they had no idea as the finished rods came in from overseas. So I doubt if you will find out.

Hi,
Thank you for all the replies. I don't think we have an answer yet that we can use. I am going to call the K sun company on Monday and see what they tell me.
I will respond after talking with them.

Question using the K Sun label maker on a MAC System.
I want to make a two line decal with the second line smaller in height. Has anyone done this and how?
Thank you,

When you order a blank order the tip top at the same time and ask them to fit the model tip top to the blank.

Hi Clive,
Call Batson themselves and get the best data. They are very receptive to builders calling up looking for info. Great company and people.

Hi,
Can I say, " buyer beware!" Sales gimmick, each company trying to get an edge over others. There are no standards except for IFGA and maybe within a company. Has always amazed me how a blank can be rated 20-100# class line, Sure you can use line anywhere within that range but where is the sweet spot for enjoyable usage of the blank/rod. Interesting how a company have one ran

Hi,
The SB 822.5 is still in the catalog. This is one of the best blanks out there for us that buck tail Fluke especially in shallow water. It is sensitive, has back bone and has handled up to 8# fluke. I am sure that you sweet water anglers like it also. Sure glad they did not eliminate the SB 822.5, the original. For the price it is unbeatable.
One of my customers liked his so much t

Hi,
My finish is in 16 oz bottles. When needed I use a baby bottle warmer. A little water poured in that when heated turns to steam and heats up the finish. I only do the hardener part as that is the thickest. Don't over heat.

Hi,
Flex Coat Brush Cleaner is the best for me. It works. This product has no negatives for me, no smell, does not evaporate and keeps my brush clean and in use until the hairs fall out due to age and use. The open bottle sits on my bench all year in my den. I could not do that with smelly products.
After using my finish brush I wipe off excess finish, rinse brush in 91% iso alcohol, wi

Hi Andrew,
The one I built for myself is the 950 MM 72 MHF. Rodgeeks sent me some pre production blanks for my assessment regarding salt water use in my area, Long Island, NY.
Mind you I have never attempted Musky fishing or used that type of blank/rod. So this was all new to me. My first assessment was that anglers like me would want more flex it the tip. This is a stiff blank to the t

Hi Pete,
Yes, I am using one of the Mo Jo Mushy blanks as a blackfish/tog rod. Am very impressed with the sensitivity and handling of a big tog.
I have built on some of their other blanks for my customers and they are very happy with them.
If you like St Croix blanks you will be at home with these. They are light, feel good in your hands and reasonably priced.

Hi,
What ever happened to doing your own research? Yes, it might take longer but you learn much more, good and bad. You acquire methods of figuring things out and can stand on your own two feet. Heaven forbid if the internet goes away and people have to think for themselves again.
There I go again showing my age and generation. I am all for helping people but not spoon feeding them. Pe

Hi Mike,
Yes, if I was you I would build on that blank, go toggin' and have fun catching big tog, blues and stripers. The one of mine that broke in a customers hands was pure overload, a 225# approx. 30 year old at 6' plus stuck in a wreck and high sticking determined to pull the wreck off the bottom. The reel had 40# mono installed.
Build it and enjoy it.

Hi Billy,
You are correct about the GBT 84 1M breaking. I listened to one breaking with 40# mono on the reel. The angler was hung up in the wreck. He did not ask for help and I heard the rifle shot. Unfortunately I had given the rod to my mate to test and he let the customer use it.
My bad. I just reread Mike's original post and yes he mentioned a GBT 84 1m. Sorry for that.

Hi,
The first Lami Tri Flex blank was the CGBT 84 1M and I believe rated at 30# class. A much higher class blank, 50# was in it's wheel house. They stopped building them. Builders called Lami and asked why as it was a great meat stick with a very sensitive tip. So they started building them again. Then Lami came out with a new CGBT 841M 30# class which was lighter and a more moderate fl

Hi Sanford,
I hope all is well up on the Cape. Have not been up there since I last visited Walter Barnes.
Take a look at the CTS blanks, New Zealand. They are strong, light weight, sensitive, can handle heavy sinker loads and have muscle down the middle. The @#$%& 706 is the biggest model (80#) I have built on. Guys use it for deep water tile fishing. They probable have other models be

Hi,
Are you using the clear tape or the colored tape?
Does it look that bad or are you being very critical? After all it is a fishing rod not plastic surgery.
The product in question is the best I have seen for a rod builder. Think back to using a P Touch label maker and rub ons.

Hi,
Good articles. Graphite rod buyers should be made to read Gary Loomis's article a couple of times before buying a graphite rod.

Hi,
I have found that customers usually love or hate cork grips! Personally I like cork grips for my Summer rods and eva for my Fall rods, colder weather rods. After the cork dust and glue fill in washes out I like the antique look the grips tale on.

Hi,
Building rods for inshore and bay fishing, some of my customers want cork and others want EVA, both weigh about the same. So I use many cork grips over the year. Rarely has a customer asked for better cork than I offer them. For the first time in many years I had to order a set of cork grips from Batson. Yes it was a tad expensive but that was not a concern to the customer especially w

Hi Tom,
Maybe it is due to different types of fishing and how the reel is held in the hand. I have had seats loosen both on up loading seats and down loading seats, spin reels and casting reels. My hand and fingers are always in contact with the seat locking asm. Nornally do not have the problem with a trigger seat

Hi,
I have already installed the Back Stop Lock Nut and it works great. The same goes for the SK reel seats and their associated grips, especially when designing a very lite rod.
If you ever need help pertaining to a Fuji product, call Jim Ising. He has the answers, always willing to help and very patient.
Thanks for all the help Jim.

Hi Rod Builders,
It is great to see The Rod Room as an advertiser on this site. Check out their site and read about them, very interesting.
After Merrick tackle closed I was in need of another supplier. A person in the distribution process suggested I give them a try. Wow, I am so glad that I did.
The GIRLS, as they like to be called, have given me the best service. If I call early eno
