Wondering how CA would do as a finish on a carbon skin grip. I know that epoxy would be needed to wet the stuff out, but for a top coat would CA work? Brand? Thickness?

I should have stated that I was talking about the upcoming show. I have been there before and so have an idea what past ICRBEs were like. Thanks.

Can I get a rough estimate of how many booths there are at the ICRBE? All rod building, or tackle shops too?

I think the 700+ page views here say it all ........ this was Bernie's home away from home. He was deeply admired by the builders here and all were touched by his friendliness and willingness to help the users here.

Everything about Rodmaker mag is first class. Very well thought out and assembled with articles from the best of the best. The quality of the paper and photos is as good as anything in the print world. Seems to be getting even better these past few years.

Turning it around will change the length of the butt grip length since the fixed hood will be on the opposite end of the reel seat.

It's called an "umbrella rig." It's for meat fishing. Somebody just moved it to freshwater and renamed it the "Alabama rig." Not new at all.

Imagine how Tom must feel..... a no-name rod builder linking to his well known magazine and huge rod building event.

Anyone that follows Milleniums Facebook page can see that this is not exactly the innocent mistake it might appear to be. Several there have been jumping on this forum and Tom for awhile with similar false claims. Not sure what the point of all this is, but I think David knew exactly what he was doing, just did not expect wiser minds to catch onto his game.

What I have posted below was taken directly from the System Three website in their FAQs section. It addresses epoxy and temperature, humidity and shelf life. Take it for what it's worth. Interesting to note that many of their instructions are identical to what has appeared here from many rod builders over the years. Product FAQS The Part A resin has hardened and turned white. Can I still use

Are you talking about putting a POLYESTER resin over regular epoxy finish?

Depends on WHO you sponsor. A consistent winner is a plus! An also-ran is not going to help nearly as much.

Wait at LEAST forty eight hours before use and during that curing time keep the rod in a warm place.

The Mossyback blanks are just GL3 blanks painted a different color. I think.

It is a great idea that did not cost any of us anything, other than Tom, and it will continue to spread until at some point it will seem like we have always had it as part of this great hobby!!

A higher frame guide will help but most of the time on any casting rod the line touches the TOP of the butt guide ring. Reference the top roller on the butt roller of those type HD rods. And if it is OK on those, it will be AOK on all the other casting or conventional type rods. You would be hard pressed to ever get the line to sit at the bottom of the butt guide ring until you really put a good

I think that's called a FALSE UNDERWRAP. It will add weight but not so much. On a 4wt I might just leave it alone or just apply it to the butt guide wrap.

Don stop googling and go direct to the source! There was a brief article in the issue of Rodmaker before last that was in addition to the two much longer articles about the CF sleeving that dealt with how to get and keep the CF sleeve straight. I think Rich Gassman wrote it. There was an illustration with it that showed the process. Seemed simple but not sure I can explain it without the illustra

Been watching this board for a lotta years and know that Tom has always thought spine was overrated. After trying it his way I now tend to agree. It just doesn't seem to make much difference one way or the other.

Always been impressed with their finished rods! Don't know much about their new blank line or where they are made but see them listed in the sponsor column now. Not active though. Hopefully will be learning more about them soon! Glad to see a new blank maker enter the market. Could be invigorating!

I almost swore off using two piece rods after having a spate of failures almost exactly three inches past the tip section ferrule on Lamiglas graphite surf rods! Must have had a half dozen pop right there. So did my rod building and surf fishing buddies who were using the same blanks. Switched to Loomis two piece saltwater sticks and NEVER had a rod break anywhere near the ferrules! Those who stu

There was a post a few days ago about a builder having trouble with his tip tops pushing back off before his hot melt glue was set. I had something happen today that might help anyone else having that same trouble! I normally install my butt cap at the time I build my handle assy. Then I would wrap the rod and install the tip top. I also had the trouble of my tip tops sometimes pushing back of

I think this has been one of the very BEST ideas in the history of custom rod building. It can do immense good against no harm for the craft-hobby to have a universal and international symbol that links all of us who share a passion for the same thing, custom rod building! In time I can see it having a great effect on how fishermen view the fraternity of custom rod builders. We have everything

Ideas are indeed cheap! That's the trouble with them. Everybody has one and few are willing to get behind them and do what is needed to make them work. That takes money. Also, how many rod builders does the internet REALLY reach? All the events that are marketed to rod builders on the internet rarely draw more than a few dozen people. Tom goes through Rodmaker and direct mail and gets thousands t
