Bill Marr Decals is the manufacturer of the military decals that Mud Hole sells, I think. Also check with Decal Connection to the left. Awesome decals, and outstanding customer service. Jimmi will work with you. By the way, Decal Connection also runs Bill Marr Decals.

The best pigments I've found, so far, are the Swifty Diamonite pigments as they're formulated just for this use. Someone else will chime in with others that are formulated for use in Gel Coat for boats, I can't remember the name of them right now. You can also use Testor's model paints with the solvent poured off. As Tom stated, a little goes a long way.

Don, If you can only get graphite, absolutely get the lowest modulace and thinnest walled piece that you can. However, since your rod is broken close to the butt end, I would not only use an inner sleeve, but an outer sleeve as well. Pluse if you will remember reading in Ralph's article, you'll want to replace the section of rod that is crushed, unless you don't mind shortening the rod and

Jerry and Jim make very good points. The best place I have found is The Skin Shop. I don't think they have a web address, but they are the folks who have the booth at the ICRBE in High Point. Mary Lou VanDeriot is also a good supplier. She is the the lady talked about above in Texas. You can contact her by doing a search on her name in the search function above. Also look at Ray Adams site

Eric, On Mike Barkley's referral of the TurnCrafter Pro, I bought one with the bed extension and haven't looked back. Just wish I had gotten the variable speed model, which is the next big thing on my list. The conversion kit.

Chris, As for not chucking stripped old rods, absolutely, keep them and store them in a garbage can in a forgotten corner. Also spread the word among your fishing buddies, that if they have rods or their friends have rods they want to get rid of, you'll take them broken or not. You can never have enough for repairs or fufture builds.

I bought a Pac Bay Mixer that uses the 2 oz condiment cups as Walt mentioned above. Withe mixer you just put the 2 parts in the cup with the mixing ball and turn it on. Let it mix for about 3 minutes, then pour it out on the shiny side of a piec of foil. Off you go!! Absolutely no bubbles. But until you get to that point use a shot glass works awesome.

Joey, I'm on your side on the thought that it's never too early to build your little guy's first rod. I can't remember who it was, and there's pics of it in the picture gallery, but one of the guy's on here built his little one a mini fly rod before he was even born, LOL!!!

Mike, For fiberglass to make the oversleeves or other repairs. I say fiberglass because you want to use a lower modulas piece or thinner walled ptece for your oversleeve, you may want to check with Lamiglass. They could probably provide you with all the cut-offs you would ever need. Other than that, check flea markets, thrift shops, yard / garage sales, or go dumpster diving at your loca

Stephen, When you are wrapping light colors over a dark blank, you will have to do 1 of 2 things. 1. Paint under where your wraps will be with either white or the color close to your thread. 2. Use silver mylar tape that you can get at your local auto parts store. Any time you use light color threads over a dark blank, unless they are NCP thread packed very tightly or metallics, the

Rick, I noticed you said that you were going to use 9 guides plus the tip on a 9 foot rod. That's great if your static test works out OK with that. I don't know if you've missed it or not, somewhere along the line, but the rule of thumb is 1 guide for each foot of length + 1, then the tip top. No disrespect or negativity intended, just making the point in case you missed it, and for the m

Kerry, You and Bill should get together and change your corporate slogan. "The Vision Continues" and add to it, "and Broadens". To show your commitment to changing and evolving with the craft. Just a suggestion.

Tom, If you can find orange mylar tape, that would work well. Otherwise pack each wrap, don't wait 3 or 4 wraps then pack. Pack as you wrap. That works well for me. Also use pretty snug tension on the thread, not so much as to cause a failure issue, but snug. Go here to see if you can find a tape that will work, they have tons of different tapes >>------------>

Jon, I don't remember who they are, but I'm sure they'll chime in. There are a few builders on this forum who build a Custom For Kids rod, and raffle it off. The funds then go for funding components for kids to learn rod building. Whom ever is involved with that, please chime in and see if you can help out this special educational needs child. After all isn't that what it's all about????

Joe, I can shed light on part of you question. First let me say Flex Coat is one that I have not used, so can't help you there. But Gudebrod 811 used to be my GO TO CP, but it would often have viscosity issues. You'd get one bottle and it would be water thin, but the next would be the consistency of honey. I can say that I have never seen a differance in the couple bottles of Chromaseal th

I don't think you'll seeor hear anything negative about them. They are good quality blanks for the money involved. I've built 3 so far, with a 4th waiting, with no problems. I doubt that MudHole would put their name on something that has been proven to have issues. MH .02
